Position Summary

The Associate Production Manager (APM) works closely with the ILM Talent & Operations team to develop and deliver talent plans to support ILM’s global crewing needs and talent strategy. The APM will work with multiple stakeholders across multiple geographies to keep our studios operating in an organized and efficient manner.

What You’ll Do

  • Execute on crewing, hiring and talent needs globally, in partnership with the ILM Talent & Operations team as well as Global Capacity Management to ensure hiring plans and artist skillsets align with global capacity on a daily basis, in a constantly changing, fluid and flexible production environment
  • Partner with recruitment and talent management teams to prioritize needs globally, elevate issues to ILM global leadership and find solutions. Understands each studios’ artist mix, capabilities and capacity in order to meet crewing projections
  • Work with Talent Managers and Studio PMs in each local studio to coordinate crewing plans and keep an eye on which disciplines may need more staff to support productions happening globally
  • Ensure projects are staffed for success by focusing on show crewing and hiring alignment for each global studio; identify and flag conflicts between schedule and development goals and estimate the impact of project milestone changes as they affect the upstream and downstream departments
  • Maintain a dashboard of key metrics and gather key data for analysis related to crewing/staffing/hiring, in partnership with D&I and the HR team; provide context and clarity around hiring and internal growth strategies
  • Drive communications between key internal stakeholders between the multiple ILM global studios on aspects related to crewing, capacity and hiring, as well as talent development plans; anticipate and communicate issues to management team(s) to reach solutions in a timely manner
  • Facilitate meetings and conversations around ILM’s Jedi Academy plans with global interested parties
  • Manage third party vendor relationships to facilitate both short and long-term needs; partner with productions and Technical Manager to oversee 3rd party projects
  • Schedule, track, and manage assigned 3rd party work within the Shotgun, as well working with Production Managers to display the information in a physical form (magnet boards/conference rooms) in order to be visible to the team
  • Understand the ever-evolving global studio body of work, as well as potential work in marketing and bidding
  • Assist internal project leads and external production teams to effectively coordinate all aspects of a number of active projects globally
  • Light administrative support and calendaring for VP, Operations and Sr Manager, Talent & Operations
  • Technical ability and knowledge required to run Linux, Windows, and Mac-based programs for external vendors, and various meetings
  • Spreadsheet/data analysis using office software tools; assist with creation of executive decks
  • Perform special projects as needed

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Film, Art, Drama or related field or equivalent work experience required
  • 5 years’ work experience in production to include strong working knowledge of post production/VFX techniques and terminology
  • Experience managing global projects/global teams strongly preferred
  • Experience using internal/external software systems to manage work
  • Proficiency in Macs/PCs including Microsoft Word and Excel; knowledge of UNIX required; familiarity with Google Suite
  • Must possess very strong organizational and communication skills and be able to handle a variety of tasks in an efficient manner while meeting deadlines
  • This position is on a guaranteed 40 hour work week, with daily overtime and some Saturday work required
  • Ability to work on a computer/keyboard for long periods of time
  • Ability to work overtime on an ongoing basis
  • Ability to travel as needed
