Position at Industrial Light & Magic

As part of ILM’s production team, the Production Pipeline Coordinator acts as a significant point of information for the Pipeline TDs, their shows and studio technology. Primary emphasis is on scheduling, communication and coordination for the Pipeline TD Team over multiple shows. Works closely with show supervision, technology leadership, artists and project managers to coordinate support requests. Ensures a “quality of service” by following up on open issues and making sure requests are properly handled in a timely manner.

Main Responsibilities

Show Pipeline Support

  • Manages internal show ticket triage, including proper issue classification, data integrity and communication
    • Maintains production issue ticketing system with priority updates, stakeholder follow-up and escalation to engineering from Pipeline TDs
    • Strategically evaluates show issue distribution and make necessary adjustments in priorities and assignment to help shows hit milestones and deliveries
    • Work with engineering’s Technical Project Manager on coordination of escalation, triage and any overlap between Pipeline TDs, Technical Project Managers and engineering
    • Follows up on feedback and comments from show issues
    • Under the guidance of Talent Management and Production Engineering Management, coordinates priorities between CG Supervision and Pipeline TDs to work out task scheduling
  • Prepares show support meetings between PipeTDs and CG Supervisors to keep regular sync on priorities across shows
  • Drives, updates and communicates to teams regularly on issue priorities and any priority changes that may arise

Liaising with Technology

  • Updates and communicates to teams on technology schedule and any schedule changes that may arise
  • Facilitates artist/supervisor support needs (software, hardware, feature requests, bug reports)
  • With the assistance of Talent Management and Production Engineering Management, evaluates Pipeline TD skill sets for issue assignments

Team Support

  • Highlights any necessary PipeTD crew changes to Talent Management and Production Engineering Management
  • Prepares bi-weekly CG Supe Tech Checkin meetings and other stakeholder meetings as they arise
    • Handles room bookings, agenda and communication logistics
    • Records and communicates meeting notes
  • Provides feedback on performance of PipeTDs in relation to their output and productivity
  • Adheres to and evangelizes Agile workflows
  • Coordinates guest and vendor visit logistics - meeting requests, stakeholders, changes etc
  • Handles basic administrative tasks for the department, including facilitating seating for new-hires

Desirable Experience

  • Coordinated one or more VFX departments providing direct support to VFX artist and production teams
  • Great communication skills to coordinate interdepartmental, sometimes cross facility, needs and schedules
  • Experience supporting a technical team and their production stakeholders
  • Basic understanding of the VFX pipeline workflow
  • Able to multitask and work in a fast paced, high pressured environment without losing
  • composure
  • Problem solving & strategic planning
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Jira, scheduling software(s), as well as Linux is a plus
  • Ability to self-motivate and meet deliverables while working independently
