Lutheran Social Services of Illinois is a not-for-profit social service agency with more than 70 program sites throughout the state of Illinois. Our services include counseling, mental health, substance abuse treatment, housing, work with prisoners and their families and services for older adults and a variety of services for children including preschool, foster care, and adoption.
LSSI is hiring a full-time Administrative Billing Clerk, Monday through Friday from 9:00am to 5:00pm. To perform highly responsible billing, and administrative work of a confidential nature with minimal supervision. Respond to the needs of the Supervisor and building manager.

Essential Functions: 
  • To obtain initial authorization for all newly admitted clients into the Next Step Program. 
  • Receive and enter payments on cash sheet, make weekly deposits for all building programs, and email receipts for approval. 
  • Assist with petty cash, monthly invoicing, ordering supplies, mail, postage, building documentation, and contacting vendors. 
  • Check failed claims and activities for errors daily and provide report to the Supervisor weekly. 
  • Run the Edit and Balance report and address any errors. 
  • Serve as the second signature for DARTs demographic, DARTs transfer/discharges for Next Step program & Elgin HRSH). Reserve and error claims as needed. 
  • Run MEDI’s and enter in Carelogic system and add payer. 
  • Back up RH & OP daily duties. 
  • Run Deposit Payment Summary Report, apply and approve payments. 
  • Demonstrate professional, positive behavior and carry out responsibilities with integrity, treating clients, families, other LSSI workforce members, and collaborative organizations and/or individual in a dignified, respectful, honest and fair manner. 
 Position Qualifications: 
  • High school diploma or equivalent required. 
  • Associate degree preferred. 
  • 1-3 years’ experience in the field required. 
  • Background check clearance required. 
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate in a clear, comprehensible manner, both verbally and in writing. 
  • Good pc/computer skills, including experience using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) along with other related software.
