LSSI is hiring a full-time Child Welfare Specialist for the Intact Family program. The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services contracts with LSSI to provide in-home services to families who have been indicated for abuse or neglect.

Essential Functions:

  • The goal is to maintain the family, whenever safely possible, as an intact entity.
  • The position requires good clinical and assessment skills, and ability to engage and motivate clients to change, while monitoring ongoing safety of the children.
  • Usual length of client service is 6-9 months. Visits take place in the home where the children reside; therefore, access to a car, a clean driving record is required.

Position Qualifications:
In addition to a real passion for working with at-risk children and families, this opportunity requires:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or a related human services field.
  • State licensing/certification as required by the State of Illinois Department of Children and Family Services.
  • Background check clearance, both criminal and CANTS.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate in a clear, comprehensible manner, both verbally and in writing.
  • A valid Illinois driver’s license, proof of automobile liability insurance. Access to transportation for visits, and to transport clients to and from appointments.
