What You’ll Do:   
  • Oversee and promote Lordco’s OHS program
  • Engage with staff and suppliers at all levels through safety discussions and practices
  • Ensure proper use of PPE and safety equipment
  • Conduct site inspections and safety drills, make recommendations and take action to eliminate or reduce risk and increase safety awareness
  • Reinforce proper ergonomics at all times 
  • Ensure machinery is operated in a safe manner
  • Maintain safety standards with minimal interruption to distribution center operations
  • Assist with maintaining records of monthly safety meetings, inspections, and training
  • Identify and mark hazardous zones
  • Assist in creating safety training and safe work procedures
  • Conduct risk assessments, safety audits, and investigations
  • Provide counsel and advice to employees, supervisors, and management on their rights and obligations with respect to health and safety. Promote understanding of health and safety issues that are pertinent to the operation of the facility
  • Support compliance with all applicable WorkSafe BC
  • Lead by example
  • Other tasks as assigned
Do you fit the part?   
  • You are a highly motivated individual with a passion for safety excellence
  • 2-5 years of OHS experience
  • Post-secondary education related to Occupational Health and Safety
  • Warehouse safety experience is considered an asset
  • Have a positive attitude to lead and influence others
  • Strong technical skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Forklift Train the Trainer experience is considered an asset. Company-sponsored training can be provided if the candidate is willing to undergo training
  • Can exercise sound judgment, discretion, and confidentiality
  • Adaptable to changing demands
  • Able to work as a team and independently
  • Have an understanding of, and apply Federal, provincial, and other regulatory agency requirements
