Position: Maintenance Technician (Conveyor System)
Reports to: Manager, Order Fulfillment
Location: Grocery Gateway Dedicated Pick Store (225 Rexdale Blvd, Toronto, M9W 1P7)
We are seeking a Maintenance Technician who specializes in conveyor systems to support our Grocery Gateway Fulfillment Centre. You will performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs on our material handling systems. You will also be the lead trouble-shooter who will provide onsite technical skills, as well as determine when additional service calls from third parties are required.
What you’ll do:
• Maintain the overall functionality of the facilities material handling equipment (conveyer system) including performing preventive maintenance and repairs on equipment (e.g., pneumatic systems, material handling equipment, hydraulic equipment, etc.) according to safety and quality procedures
•Oversee the planning and coordinating of maintenance jobs and projects
•Perform reliability maintenance procedures including routine such as routine inspections, utilizing diagnostic tools to foresee potential failures
•Diagnose mechanical and electrical problems using technical drawings and diagnostic tools
•Operate material handling equipment, battery equipment, moving machinery, and other powered equipment
•Troubleshoot and repair complex electrical/electronic problems with equipment, networks, PC logic controls, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and external Input/Output (I/O) devices where the repair is not immediately visible or obvious
•Assist in the development of specific technical and training documentation
•Provide resolutions to mechanical, electrical, technical/controls issues to expedite the resolution of conveyor related issues
•Participate in cleaning the conveyor systems and spare parts inventory area
•Source appropriate spare parts, coordinate the purchasing and payment of parts and maintains inventory
• Serve as a Technical Trainer
•Assess and engage with third party services to maintain conveyer functionality or fix breakdowns, as required
•Laisse with external service providers regarding maintenance activities
•Clearly and consistently communicate with internal Facility Operations team to ensure smooth order processing with minimal downtime
What we are looking for:
• 2 year certification from college or technical school related to electrical, mechanical or controls engineering or equivalent experience
• 5+ years of related experience in mechanical troubleshooting, maintenance and/or installation
•Conveyor and/or Sortation experience a definite asset
•Demonstrated mechanical, electrical, controls and networking troubleshooting experience required
•MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
•Familiar with electrical code
•Perform work in a safe manner using lock out / tag out procedures
•Tools are required to be provided by incumbent. Tools can also be purchased through Longo’s.
What else you need to know:
• 24/7 on call support required and ability to work a variety of shifts including evenings, weekends and holidays as business needs required
• Must have own transportation – public transportation is NOT always available
•Temperature controlled environment (DC area is approximately 10 degrees Celsius)
• Personal protective equipment including safety footwear and vests to be worn at all times
