Position:              Marketing Director, Integrated Content and Media

 

Job Overview:

 

The Marketing Director will be responsible for elevating Brand communications at all touchpoints, including responsibility for brand planning, mass communications, media, PR, in-store creative, magazine execution and the operational function of the advertising and communication departments. The Director establishes strategic advertising and communications goals and objectives; develops and recommends communications, and implements cost effective, efficient processes aligned with strong budget management.

Accountabilities:

Team Leadership:

Overall responsibility for performance of direct reports and distribution of responsibilities.

  • Upholds and models Longo’s values of Honesty, Trustworthiness and Mutual Respect in all actions and behaviours.
  • Sets the overall direction/goals for team in line with the organization’s Genuine Merchant Business Strategy.
  • Determines advertising and communication indirect report requirements, implement changes if required.

Advertising and communications strategic development:

  • Balance long term goals with short term business needs.
  • Develop strategic, integrated advertising plans, goals and objectives (mass, print, digital, in store).
  • Develop strategic, integrated communications plans, goals and objectives (public relations, sponsorships, community events).
  • Implements strategies in alignment with Longo’s Genuine Merchant business strategy to achieve growth objectives
  • Establishes and realigns advertising and communication policies and procedures to drive process improvement and efficiencies. 

Develop recommendations, reporting grounded in data and insight that leads to powerful storytelling:

  • Develop advertising business case (radio, direct mail, magazine production, in store communication; print and digital) with creative to bring it to life.
  • Develop communication/sponsorship business case (i.e. PR, sponsorships, donations).
  • Develop and control on-going management of the advertising and communications components of marketing budget.

Direct advertising and communications reporting and metrics capabilities, diagnosing data to deliver Guest-centric advertising and communication messaging:

  • Evaluate, interpret and benchmark consumer and industry insights.
  • Anticipate consumer purchase and communication preferences.
  • Analyze advertising and communication effectiveness and decide appropriate adjustments.
  • Develop standard reporting and metrics.

Knowledge, Skills & Competencies:

  • Post secondary degree in business, marketing, communications, MBA an asset.
  • 10+ years of progressively senior marketing/communication experience, retail experience an asset.
  • 5 years minimum leading and supervising a marketing team.
  • Successful track record in anticipating, developing and executing advertising and communication strategies.
  • Strong knowledge of public relations strategy development, media measurement and evaluation.
  • Experience managing regional and targeted campaigns - print, POS, Web, digital, direct mail etc.
  • Strong knowledge of creative goal setting, leadership and evaluation.
  • Knowledge of media measurement, placement and evaluation.
  • Knowledge of graphic applications such as InDesign, Adobe Illustrator.

Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed (in-part) in a standard office environment with participation in meetings and conference calls.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and changing priorities.
  • Travel to various stores in the GTA required. 
  • Work conditions include occasional periods of moderate physical effort.
