Position: Quality Assurance Technician
What you’ll do:
- Provide a highly focused food safety presence in the Central Kitchen and Meat Commissary production plant, where approximately 80% of time will be spent:
- Monitoring, documenting, and correcting quality assurance and food safety activity during production.
- Completing daily Quality Assurance inspections, audits and verifications which include, but are not limited to, sanitation testing, pre-operational inspections, raw material inspection, finished product quality checks, weight checks, equipment inspections, metal detection and scale calibration and testing
- Additionally, approximately 20% of time will be spent:
- Maintaining Quality Assurance inspection and verification files and supporting documentation in appropriate areas to ensure information is accurate and current.
- Assisting with the investigation of food complaints, reporting the outcome of investigation to the Manager, Quality Assurance
- Make recommendations for continuous improvement in processes that contribute to the prevention of reoccurring complaints
- Providing support on the execution of recalls pertaining to the Central Kitchen and Meat Commissary products.
- Other administrative tasks related to Good Manufacturing Practices, Quality Management Systems, and regulatory audit compliance
What we are looking for:
- Completion of secondary education is preferred
- 1+ years of experience in a quality assurance or food safety role with a food manufacturer
- Excellent written and oral English communication skills; ability to speak additional languages is an asset.
- Organize and co-ordinate information, material and resources to execute on a timely basis within multiple priorities in a fast-paced business
- Demonstrate sound judgment, confidentiality and professionalism in all aspects of the role; ability to address and immediately correct Team Member behaviour that is affecting food safety
- Acts with a sense of urgency when responding incidents
- Good problem-solving skills and the ability to identify root causes of issues, make recommendations, and find solutions
- Ability to provide training and deliver awareness in the completion of tasks in the areas
- Reasonable computer skills - Word, Excel, Outlook
- Must have own transportation - public transportation is NOT available to the work location during working hours
- Availability to work 5 days per week including weekends
- Shift start and end times are subject to change based on business needs and seasonality
