Position Purpose
As a LONG Lead Controls Service Technician, you will work as a part of the LONG Service Team to support our Customer Base.  The Lead Technician will be a technical leader on the team, and will use their experience and skills to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair a wide variety of temperature control systems. The Lead Technician will perform the most complex and challenging controls service tasks, and will work with the other controls service team members to train them on how to most effectively perform emergency and preventative maintenance service on installed systems. The Lead Technician must posses a high level of industry knowledge including mechanical, electrical, programming, integration, legacy system types, and more. In addition, the Lead Technician will act as a liaison with the service operations team, the service sales team, and the customer to ensure maintenance and service is properly administered and customers are informed and aware of the critical issue within their facility
 
Compensation Range: $41 - $51 per hour plus potential profit share.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Utilize industrial experience to troubleshoot any issues with systems to identify and implement solutions
  • Determine the most effective action to take based on troubleshooting results, controls plan, mechanical system operation, and BAS data taking into consideration overall system operation and the dynamics on how different systems in a building affect each other.
  • Program, tune, and control setpoint adjustments within manufacturers and engineering design recommendations in accordance with LONG standards.
  • Perform calibration and point-to-point troubleshooting of control systems and controlled equipment/components to verify or improve equipment operation.
  • Provide information to update drawings and keep records of equipment for as-built documentation and submit all redlined drafting to application engineers.
  • Effectively communicate with customers to answer any inquiries, offer guidance, and resolve technical issues
  • Supply information to customers about investing into necessary replacements or vital repairs that are key components to devices
  • Provides technical analysis and recommendations to owners and the service team regarding warranty issues or challenging situations with a customer focused attitude
  • Instructs owner's personnel and control service technicians on maintenance of temperature control systems and energy conservation routines
  • Keep record of all repairs and maintenance and properly reporting issues to the Service Supervisor
  • Provide guidance to controls service technicians about system maintenance, troubleshooting issues and equipment recommendations on and off of the jobsite
  • Provide technical expertise and standardized procedures to maximize control service technician efficiency
  • Communicates regularly and efficiently with operations manager, service supervisors, installation supervisors and control technicians via voice mail, cell phone and email regarding scheduling, job concerns, technical matters and other issues
  • Works well with all business unit managers, service supervisors, customers, application engineers, sales personnel, service and control technicians
  • Advises supervisor and managers regarding system deficiencies and/or customer complaints and advises appropriate building intelligence personnel. Advises Service Supervisor on maintenance status and completion of assigned work
  • Expands, documents and organizes technologies knowledge and programming skill with all represented manufacturers and works closely with the technical standards, programming and R&D group
  • Works to ensure that LONG is fairly compensated for all work including that performed outside contractual obligations
  • Abides by all LONG and OSHA safety regulations at all times
  • Ensures code compliance for all technical work performed
  • On call work may be required on a periodic basis.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 2 years of computer/electronic technical degree and 3 years temperature control system start-up, checkout, and service experience or 5 years temperature control system start-up, checkout, and service experience
  • Ability to legally operate a motor vehicle.
  • Advanced programming and troubleshooting skills with systems such as KMC, Distech, Tridium/Honeywell, and similar systems.
  • Strong analytical abilities for resolving software and integration issues.
  • Ability to interpret mechanical plans and specifications accurately.
  • Expertise in HVAC systems, control systems, building automation, electrical systems, energy management, engineering, and construction procedures.
  • Proven ability to manage and lead multiple tasks simultaneously, with a strong sense of responsibility and accountability.
  • Experience mentoring junior team members on complex worksite tasks and issues.
  • Strong customer service orientation and analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Effective leadership, communication (both written and verbal), and computer proficiency.
  • Strong organizational and planning abilities.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to job sites and customer locations for inspections.
  • In-depth knowledge of dispatch, job costing, HVAC mechanical and electrical systems, controls, and safety practices.

  • Knowledge of LONG’s system operations and infrastructure, as it pertains to service operations and its stakeholders

Physical Requirements
  • This work may involve standing for extended periods, climbing ladders or scaffolds, and working in tight spaces.
  • This position may require lifting to 50 lbs. from floor to countertop and countertop to floor.
  • This position may require climbing ladders and the ability to function at heights.
