HVAC Controls Technician Supervisor

Position Purpose
As a LONG Controls Technician supervisor, you will be involved with overseeing the controls technician team. You will be responsible for coordinating and managing the activities of the technicians under their supervision, by assign tasks, providing guidance and training, monitoring progress, and ensuring that work is completed according to quality and safety standards. The Control Technician Supervisor will also collaborate with other departments or teams to coordinate maintenance schedules, resolve technical issues, and optimize system performance.
Pay Range: $55 - $70 per hr. plus potential profit share.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Oversee the day-to-day activities of the control technicians. This includes monitoring their work, reviewing progress, and ensuring that tasks are completed according to schedules and quality standards.
- Assist with complex troubleshooting, provide guidance on resolving technical issues, and support the team in diagnosing and installing control systems.
- Assign tasks, set priorities, and provide guidance and direction to ensure that the team performs their duties effectively and efficiently.
- Assist in job, commissioning, programming, and project management as needed and available.
- Assist sales personnel and project managers with labor estimates for change orders and re-estimates.
- Supervise and mentor controls technicians to include hiring and recruiting, performance management, disciplinary action, coaching, and annual reviews.
- Help resolve customer concerns and disputes with regards to installations, startup, and commissioning
- Look for changes in the work and alerts project managers to change order opportunities.
- Capability of assisting sales/engineering in surveying existing mechanical and control systems in preparation for retrofit opportunities
- Continuously strives to improve LONG processes, quality, employees, and oneself.
- Ensure the quality, standardization, and timeliness of all Building Intelligence construction activities.
- Be familiar with job site completion deadlines and coordinate workforce and material, needs with Building Intelligence operations manager, project managers, installers, control technicians, customers, and other trades.
- Assist project managers and accounting with billing accuracy in work completion.
- Ensure that Technician cost estimate (labor and material) is met by teams.
- Work to ensure that LONG is fairly compensated for all work including that performed outside contractual obligations.
- Efficiently allocate billable time to projects.
- May also conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and identify training or development needs for the team members.
- Enforce safety procedures, conduct safety inspections, and promote a culture of safety within the team.
- Involve LONG management in bid and other business opportunities that present unusual or excessive risk.
- Attend job site coordination where applicable.
- Provide documentation as needed for scheduling, personnel, billing, and job site issues.
- Perform timely and accurate timecard reporting.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- 2 years of computer/electronic technical degree and 5-7 years temperature control system start-up, checkout, and service experience or 5-7 years temperature control system start-up, checkout, and service experience
- Ability to legally drive a company vehicle.
- Expert knowledge of HVAC, control systems, building automation, electrical systems, energy management, engineering, installation, and construction procedures
- Programming and troubleshooting skills with KMC, Distech, Tridium/Honeywell, and other equivalent systems.
- Analytical skills in solving software and integration challenges.
- Ability to interpret mechanical plans and specifications.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and willingness to accept responsibility and accountability.
- Strong customer service and analytical skills.
- Possess good leadership, communication (written and verbal), and computer skills.
- Possess good organizational and planning skills.
- Ability to travel to and inspect jobsites and to visit customer locations.
- Proven ability to lead and mentor teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of MS project and Blue Beam
- Knowledge of LONG’s system operations and infrastructure, as it pertains to construction operations and its stakeholders.
- Completion of the ASP Program

Physical Requirements
- This position may involve standing for extended periods, climbing ladders or scaffolds, and working in tight spaces.
- This position may require lifting to 50 lbs. from floor to countertop and countertop to floor.
- This position may require climbing ladders and the ability to function at heights.
