Embedded System Security Champion


 

The Role:

The Embedded System Security Champion is an active member of the Embedded Software team that may help to make decisions about when to engage the Security Team. He/She acts as a core element of the security assurance process within the product.

  • Guard, develop and promote Security best practices

  • Conduct Product Security Risk Assessment

  • Develop new security capabilities within existing and new devices

  • Conduct and follow security improvement plan 

  • Monitor security state of the products

    • Investigate bug bounty reports 

    • Perform and/or verify security reviews in the team

    • Raise security issues to the Product Security Board and management

  • Scale security through multiple teams, engage “non-security” folks and support the establishment of the security culture.

Key Qualifications:

For consideration, you must bring the following minimum skills and behaviors to our team:

  • 5+ years’ experience in Embedded Software Engineering (C/C++, python ..)

  • 3+ years’ experience in a position with security involvement 

  • Deep knowledge of Security by Design (e.g. STRIDE, ..) , Security Assessment methodologies and Cryptography (PKI, AES, MD5, RSA, ECC … ) 

  • Have supported all aspects of device security on at least one commercial device

    • Understand the tradeoff between security and ease-of-use/support

    • Demonstrable experience with tailoring the security requirements in support of a device's or company's policies and standards

  • Experience in Security lifecycle software development, including system design and analysis, requirement capture and development, software implementation and verification, system integration, qualification and releasing

  • Ability to communicate highly technical concepts to non-technical individuals

  • Be able to technically work with and develop a team of developers who might be geographically distributed.


 

Education:

  •  BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent
