Position at Logitech

 As a Patent Portfolio Manager at Logitech, you will join our IP team and report into our worldwide head of IP. You will be directly responsible for developing and maintaining a patent portfolio across multiple products categories, working with engineering and product teams from around the world. You will partner closely with a number of our internal business groups, to proactively develop an IP strategy to support business objectives. This is an exciting opportunity to establish a solid IP position for Logitech in emerging technologies, and to lay the foundation for our business opportunities for years to come.

Among your responsibilities will be:

  • Manage a patent portfolio spanning multiple product categories, including invention identification and harvesting, strategic analysis, patent application preparation, and prosecution by outside patent counsel

  • Collaborate with legal, product, and engineering teams to identify IP opportunities and mitigate potential IP related risks

  • Provide strategic counsel regarding the competitive IP landscape for the company's current global product portfolio and future opportunities

  • Train and educate product and engineering teams in intellectual property matters

  • Travel to our offices in Europe on a quarterly basis, and potentially to other locations, to engage directly with our local product and engineering teams

  • In conjunction with members of the litigation team, assist with IP-related disputes

  • Support IP-related M&A due diligence activities



  • Combination of law firm and in-house experience with history of taking accountability for important IP issues and decisions and seeing them through

  • IP experience with consumer electronic products and consumer facing software services

  • Technical experience in the areas of video collaboration, broadcasting, consumer electronics, and generally in electrical and mechanical engineering

  • Background and experience working with inventors in multiple different geographic regions, including a working knowledge of foreign filing license requirements

  • An understanding of the scope and requirements of Design patents, within the US and foreign jurisdictions

  • Proven ability to manage the development of a patent portfolio within a budget, filing new applications on a regular cadence, while ensuring quality and strategic significance


Additional Requirements

  • 3+ years of in-house legal IP experience

  • JD, admitted to the CA State Bar

  • U.S. Patent and Trademark Office registration

  • BS degree in EE, ME, computer science, or related field

  • Ability to travel to Europe quarterly, for trips of 5-10 days

  • Fluency in French is desirable but not required
