The Role:

Communication Manager, Personal Workspace (computer accessories) and Gaming categories

Location: Tokyo

The Communication Manager functions as a supporting role in driving the growth of key categories of Personal Workspace (computer accessories) and Gaming categories, through planning/executing 1. digital ads, 2. digital tie-ins with publishers, 3. influencer programs, 4. owned social media communication such as Twitter, 5. PR activities including new product launch events, 6. trade marketing including point-of-sales material development, and 7. Effectiveness/efficiency tracking of the activities for improvements. This position supports senior Communication Managers in charge of the categories, reporting to the senior Communication Manager for Personal Workspace category as a solid line, while reporting to the senior Communication Manager for Gaming category as a dotted line.   The work split between the 2 categories will be roughly 50:50.  This position works closely with different functions including Category Managers, Sales managers, Global and Regional Communication Teams. He/she needs the integrated capability and should have a strong mind of ownership and self-motivation.

In this role you will support the senior Communication Managers in translating communication strategy briefed by Category Managers into holistic, through-the-line marketing activities from ATL to BTL and execute them, to grow the business and the brand.  Personal Workspace (computer accessories) and Gaming categories include different customer segments with different insights, so you will need to develop relevant Specifically:

  • Supports planning and execution of digital ads (creative development and media planning/optimization), effectively utilizing digital agencies, to achieve agreed strategy and KPI’s

  • Supports planning and execution of influencer programs (YouTubers, Instagrammers, Bloggers, etc), via PR agency or directly, to maximize interest and understanding of key existing or new products.

  • Supports planning and execution of PR activities and digital tie-ins, collaborating with digital publishers/media.

  • Supports planning and execution of owned Twitter for Gaming category, to effectively communicate the brand/product stories to the target audience

  • Supports planning and execution of trade marketing, including point-of-sales material, working closely with a design agency, sales teams, and merchandisers.

  • Support  Effectiveness/efficiency/ROI tracking of the activities, to extract learnings as implications for improvements.

  • Liaise with stakeholders in global/regional communication teams, for synergy.

Your Skills:

For consideration, you must bring the following skills and behaviors:

  • 3+ years of experience in Marketing communication including digital ads, digital tie-ins, influencer program, PR, owned social media, and in-store communication, for consumer goods brands at a brand owner end (not at an agency end or in service industry).

  • Demonstrated consumer centric approach understanding consumer needs, insight, and other factors for innovative solutions

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to influence brand strategy to internal and external stakeholders

  • Agility to work in an ambiguous, fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse teams, both functionally and geographically is critical.

  • Team player – great communicator

  • Self-management skills and self-started attitude highly valued

  • English fluent verbally and written is a must
