The Role

As a Firmware Technical Program Manager, you will be responsible for leading a wide variety of cross-functional programs across firmware, system integration, firmware validation, and manufacturing testing. In this role, you will lead the design and development of some of the most advanced firmware integration projects. 

The right candidate will understand firmware and embedded system development, have experience with manufacturing, and have experience leading cross-functional teams to deliver exceptional product performance. You will have the opportunity to shape the process and interaction between the firmware engineering process and manufacturing line operation for efficiency and high quality. You will use your engineering background to understand the product requirements, technical risks, and validation strategy to accelerate the development process. You will communicate and present project status, highlight schedule risk, and develop recovery plans in the event of a project slip.

Responsibilities

  • Manage cross-functional factory-facing programs from end-to-end, covering a range of areas including firmware trials, testing, pre-flashing, and coordination with hardware & firmware development teams. Work closely with manufacturing and engineering teams to effectively coordinate firmware trials, validation, & integration to the factory.

  • Facilitate & manage partnerships with key groups such as Manufacturing Engineering, Production, Engineering leadership, System Integration & Test, and Firmware development, and other partner engineering teams.

  • Inspire, lead Agile development process, Scrum, and organize internal improvement initiatives to existing, firmware, test engineering.

  • Communicate clearly, regularly, and effectively with leadership, stakeholders, and internal team members in both written and verbal forms.

  • Grasp complex technical topics and abstract key issues and risks into an actionable form while providing risk tracking, and mitigation in technical environments.

Requirements

  •  BS in engineering (or equivalent), MS preferred.

  •  5+ years' technical program management (TPM / EPM) experience managing consumer-facing embedded systems (or equivalent experience).

  • 1-2 + years working as an engineer, ideally on firmware teams, as a developer or tester

  • Experience managing end-to-end product deployment — from concept through development and successful launch.

  •  Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills with the ability to work in a highly cross-functional environment.

  • Excellent organization with the ability to own the FW schedule (agile, sprints)with a track record of delivering projects on time

  • JIRA, MS project management and other tools for Project management

  • Ability to work with limited resources, independently, with tight deadlines, and with urgency.
