Senior Mechanical Design Engineer (MX)

The Role:

The Logitech Personal Workspace Solutions (PWS) business group is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join a cross-functional team designing and developing consumer electronics and experiences, such as the MX Master 3.

You will be an integral member of a global group working on Logitech's future horizon of user experiences for Creative Professionals and support identifying, defining and developing new consumer experiences, products and services from concept through to production.

The ideal candidate has strong experience in detailed physical part design, mechanisms and proof of concept prototyping (MVP) and has an open and innovative mindset with self motivation to explore/pursue abstract opportunity spaces.  

As a key member of the Logitech MX and Personal Workspace Solutions (PWS) future horizon innovation team, the candidate is responsible for combining engineering, testing and a relentless pursuit of creating the best new products and experiences that are sold around the world.

As a key member of Cork STUDIO, you will be responsible for the delivery Future Horizon products for MX business group from ideation and conceptualisation through to product delivery

In this role you will:

  • Develop user centric products and Participate in the development of User Experience (UX) research to develop customer focussed products.
  • Develop product architectures and new technology concept
  • Develop mechanism design
  • Build proof of concepts including function, manufacturability, and robustness
  • Ensure high quality robust design of complex mechanical systems and components using tools such as dFMEA, QFD and FEA simulation.
  • Analyze data generated from builds and lab experiments
  • Work with Industrial Designers, and product development teams to define and develop products from concept to Mass Production
  • Perform tolerance analyses to verify performance of mechanisms and cosmetic specifications in the presence of high volume dimensional variation
  • Detailed 3D design and 2D documentation of all parts and assemblies
  • Interact with vendors as well as internal  Manufacturing, supply Chain, NPI and Supplier Quality Engineering groups in the Far East to develop manufacturing processes, tooling
  • Define reliability testing requirements and equipment
  • Drive Innovation in technology and Products for Creative professionals and SW developers
  • Strong knowledge and experience in rapid prototyping, functional lab testing of concepts and analysis of test data.
  • Electronic prototyping and knowledge of Python, Raspberry pi and some understanding of FW/ESW coding for proof of concept prototyping is also a strong advantage

Key Qualifications:

For consideration, you must bring the following minimum skills and behaviors to our team:

  • 5-7 years experience in mechanical development of high volume consumer electronic products
  • Detailed knowledge of plastics, metal,  injection moulding and tooling
  • Fluent in Design/Development process and tools of high volume manufacturing
  • Fluent in Pro/Engineer or similar 3D CAD package including Advanced Surfacing
  • Highly skilled in problem solving
  • ‘Design Thinking’ mindset
  • Strong Communication skills with experience in multicultural and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Also good at interacting with senior team and management
  • Able to speak up and own
  • Strong knowledge in ANSYS simulation software
  • Strong Presentation skills
  • Photo and video editing and 3D design creation will be also be an advantage

Education:

Bachelor's  Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or similar)
