Description
Position Summary:
Responsible for assisting and providing a range of legal support and administration to attorneys, clients and other legal practitioners. Performs different clerical and administrative tasks that need extensive knowledge of mortgage industry, legal terms, procedures and documents. Responsible for assisting in the review of regulatory and legislative requirements as they apply to residential mortgage lenders. Provides guidance to senior leadership on the application of those requirements within the business model and the implications to the business of those requirements. Ensures the performance of all duties in accordance with the company’s policies and procedures, all U.S. state and federal laws and regulations, wherein the company operates.
Responsibilities:
- Assists corporate counsel with drafting, reviewing, revising, and researching legal and regulatory documents, including mortgage lending laws and related compliance requirements.
- Reviews, prepares, and administers marketing agreements, office space agreements, vendor agreements, and other business contracts; provides guidance to business partners, coordinates internal approval processes, and finalizes agreements for execution.
- Ensures marketing agreements, RESPA partnerships, disclosures, loan documents, and related business arrangements comply with applicable federal, state, investor, and agency laws, regulations, policies, and company standards.
- Assists with the development, maintenance, and updating of compliance-related policies, procedures, training materials, and internal websites to reflect current regulatory, legislative, and business requirements.
- Coordinates third-party valuation and service reviews in partnership with business stakeholders to align services with marketing objectives while adhering to company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Manages marketing partner onboarding activities, delivers training on compliance and invoice review processes, and serves as a primary liaison throughout the agreement lifecycle, including renewals, amendments, and terminations.
- Reviews monthly documentation submissions and uploads to verify compliance with policy, procedural, and regulatory requirements.
- Compiles, prepares, reviews, and submits documentation related to RESPA partnerships and regulatory filings with agencies, investors, warehouse providers, and other external stakeholders, including FNMA, FHLMC, HUD, VA, and GNMA.
- Compiles, analyzes, and reports on partnership and compliance data; supports audits, monitoring activities, and ongoing assessments to ensure continued compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Researches, analyzes, and assesses proposed regulatory, legislative, and industry developments; provides guidance to management regarding potential impacts, risks, opportunities, and required business actions.
- Monitors industry publications, regulatory guidance, and market developments to identify emerging compliance risks, regulatory changes, and business implications.
- Performs additional regulatory, compliance, and legal support duties and special projects as assigned by senior management.
- Performs other duties and projects as assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred minimum of five (5) years’ experience in legal and/or compliance in the mortgage industry.
- Experience in formulating policy and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures.
- Ability to analyze and interpret agreements/contracts.
- Professional written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
- Solid understanding of the risk elements associated with the origination of residential mortgage loans
- Travel <10% of time required.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.
- Ability to interpret data and apply basic to intermediate math skills.
- Exceptional verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Solid problem-solving skills with a practical, solution-focused approach.

Base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay for this role is between $34.62/hr and $47.60/hr. Your base pay will depend on multiple individualized factors, including your job-related knowledge/skills, qualifications, experience, and market location.
