Position Summary:

Responsible for the ownership and accountability of commercial title operations, including the management of personnel, equipment, and other resources necessary to run the commercial title operations. This position ensures the performance of all duties in accordance with the company’s policies and procedures, all U.S. state and federal laws and regulations, wherein the company operates.

Responsibilities:

  • Leads and oversees examiners, underwriters, and policy production to produce various commercial title documents, including pre-closing and post-closing, timely and accurately.
  • Develops and delivers search, examination and underwriting policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Leads and overseas receipt of escrow deposits and disbursements as part of the settlement/disbursement at time of closing, including preparation of the settlement statement.
  • Leads the underwriting of national complex, high liability commercial real estate transactions, including title clearance, resolution of title comment/objection letters, reviewing title/survey requirements and negotiation of endorsement/affirmative coverages.
  • Calculates title premium, creates work invoices, and provides title quotes for prospective transaction.
  • Provides ongoing training support for commercial title staff.
  • Reviews reports on a daily/weekly/monthly basis to ensure SLA’s are met.
  • Reviews Employee Production reports to ensure Production’s goals are met.
  • Responds to requests for Letters of Indemnity.
  • Assists with claim review and investigation, as needed by the Legal Department.
  • Maintains collaborative and respectful culture between Joint Venture partners.
  • Maintains awareness to new government requirements, laws, and policy changes.
  • Determines the types of equipment to be used in performing work, or materials needed.
  • Ensures safety and security of the workplace and monitors work for legal or regulatory compliance.
  • Performs other duties and projects as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Intermediate math skills; calculate interest and percentages; balance accounts; add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals; locate routine mathematical errors; compute rate, ratio and percent, including the drafting and interpretation of bar graphs.
  • Ability to manage production goals and high customer expectations.
  • Ability to make decisions that have moderate impact on the immediate work unit and cross functional departments.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work schedules on a short-term and long-term basis.
  • Ability to provide consultation and expert advice to management.
  • Ability to make informal and formal presentations, inside and outside the organization; speaking before assigned team or other groups as needed.
  • Ability to deal with complex difficult problems involving multiple facets and variables in nonstandardized situations.
  • Ability to work with little to no supervision while performing duties.
  • Minimum of three (3) + years of Title Examiner experience.
  • Experience in the Mortgage industry preferred.
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
