Senior Litigation Specialist

Position Summary:
Responsible for providing expert insight and analysis into the administration of foreclosure, origination, and servicing processes in a high loan volume nationwide environment to our attorney network. Handles many projects simultaneously and assists in the management and analysis of legal cases to support those operations. Oversees the day-to-day key workflow processes essential to meeting timeline performance in relation to all foreclosure actions. Ensures compliance and adherence to all Agency, Investor and Mortgage Insurer guidelines.
Responsibilities:
- Utilizes thorough knowledge of all the company’s servicing practices including, but not limited to, collections practices, loss mitigation, bankruptcy and foreclosure.
- Serves as subject matter expert to represent loanDepot in cases requiring a Corporate Representative including, but not limited to, foreclosure cases and for loanDepot’s internal legal department.
- Specializes in the management of a portfolio of foreclosure cases including, but not limited to, contested foreclosures, title claims, title resolution, probate or condemned properties.
- Partners with the loanDepot Foreclosure counsel to determine a resolution that is in the best interest of the company, investor, and customer, while remaining compliant with investor guidelines.
- Participates in hearings, including but not limited to, teleconferences, Zoom hearings, in-person hearings as well as preparation meetings with loanDepot counsel to provide expert analysis into the company’s servicing and origination processes.
- Maintains and attends a schedule of hearings, court appearances and conferences based on case requirements.
- Monitors changes in statutory, regulatory, investor and insurer guidelines and requirements.
- Monitors foreclosure matters and responds to vendor intercoms to complete foreclosures timely.
- Maintains communication with all business units, most notably: Loss Mitigation, Default Services, General Counsel, attorneys and provide feedback to root cause errors that caused any litigation against loanDepot.
- Reviews items that must be escalated to legal and proper departments in a timely manner.
- Monitors monthly, weekly and daily exception reports to ensure accuracy of production.
- Strives to achieve the highest net recovery possible by minimizing the expense of management, ensuring effective timeline management.
- Performs other duties and projects assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred, and a minimum of five (5) + years of related work experience.
- Minimum of five (5) + years of experience in the Mortgage Servicing industry preferred.
- Minimum of two (2) + years’ experience and shown proficiency in Black Knight Financial Services (MSP/BKFS) and LoanSphere servicing systems preferred.
- Extensive experience in origination and servicing, specifically in the Foreclosure process.
- Travel 50% of time is required.
- Knowledge of audit and oversight protocol.
- Knowledge of 1st lien, 2nd lien and HELOC Foreclosure process to assist vendors with proper instructions to minimize loss.
- Knowledgeable in Federal and State regulations related to Mortgage Servicing.
- Knowledgeable in investor and insurer guidelines related to FNMA, FHLMC, GNMA, VA, FHA and USDA.
- Demonstrates a general working knowledge of all aspects of loan administration and loan servicing.
- Must be able to work a hybrid schedule of 2 days a week in our Plano, TX office
