Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with Division Heads to ensure Approaches to Teaching and Learning (ATL) skills and practices are embedded in the curriculum of both IB and pre-IB courses. 
  • Works in collaboration with the, Division Heads, Curriculum Director and Department Chairs in the review, development, and revision of IB and pre-IB academic programs and related curriculum documents, including curriculum guides, course outlines, and teaching plans. 
  • Chairs and manages the TOK teaching team to ensure consistency in the taught curriculum and accuracy in monitoring assessment.
  • Works collaboratively with the Curriculum Director on the ATL component of the curriculum mapping tool. 
  • Collaborates on curriculum vertical team meetings. 
  • Liaises with the College Counselors to ensure all DP students are adequately meeting requirements for university entry.
  • Coordinates the IB course selection process, runs information meetings for parents and, counsels students and parents on IB course selections.
  • Works collaboratively with directors, coordinators, and instructional specialists in the development of instructional programs in all core subjects. 
  • Collaborates with department chairs on the use of student achievement data to examine curriculum and instruction program effectiveness for curriculum.
  • Organizes and leads IB information meetings for parents, students and faculty at regular intervals during the year.
  • Mentors and works collaboratively with the Extended Essay Coordinator, CAS Coordinator and Self-Taught Supervisor

  • Keeps whole school faculty and staff informed of current IB DP Program developments as announced in Coordinator Notes and correspondence from the IBO.
  • Is the School’s primary point of contact for, and is in regular contact with, the IBO.
  • Coordinates the Five Year IB School Authorization process and writes the Self-Study Questionnaire document.
  • Works with the school’s Admissions and Communication team to market the IB Diploma Program, its aims, and requirements to students, parents, faculty, and staff.
  • Monitors the progress of IB students (diploma and course candidates) to determine if candidates are meeting program and examination requirements. 
  • Analyzes and reviews the school’s annual IB results with administration and IB teachers.
  • Anticipates staffing needs and encourages staff development.
  • Works with the Division Heads to recommend, monitor, and coordinate professional development for faculty and staff.
  • Collaborates with US Department Chairs, and LS Grade Level leaders, to ensure that textbooks, resources and facilities meet the needs of the IB programme.
  • Manages all aspects of student registration and record keeping for IB examinations and course components according to LMPS and IBO standards.
  • Collaborates with the Director of Learning Support in the application of Inclusive Access Arrangements (IAA) for students who require accommodations.
  • Takes overall responsibility for the scheduling, administration, safekeeping, invigilation, and dispatch of all IB examination documents.
  • Assumes overall responsibility for maintaining all relevant documentation regarding the IB program.
  • Supervises and evaluates a selection of Upper School IB teaching staff.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Advanced degree in educational leadership or related field
  • Teaching experience and expertise working in the IB DP
  • Experience as an IB Examiner is preferred but not required
  • Experience as an IB DP Coordinator is preferred but not required
  • Experience and expertise with ManageBac, Rubicon Atlas, Naviance, and Power School
  • Highly refined interpersonal skills and proven success working collaboratively in a leadership position
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ambition to promote and grow the IB DP at LMPS
  • Familiarity with ATL and curriculum mapping tools
