Adjunct Violin Instructor
Description
The Léman Conservatory private lesson program is seeking an experienced and motivated violin instructor to teach private lessons to students in Grades K-12 of all skill levels during after-school hours at a rate of $70 per lesson. Lessons are scheduled between 3:30-6:30 on weekdays depending upon the instructor’s and student’s availability. The position may also include leading the Upper School String Ensemble and/or Lower School String Ensemble, which are non-auditioned ensembles that meets once a week, depending on applicant’s interest and skill set. Standard clearances include background check, DOI fingerprinting, and drug screening upon hiring.

Key Responsibilities:
(The primary tasks, functions and deliverables of the role)
Private lessons
• Planning and teaching 45-minute, one-on-one private lessons for students in Grades K-12
• Sequencing and differentiating instruction to ensure consistent progress and growth for each student
• Setting and maintaining clear expectations for students regarding weekly practice and progress
• Assigning appropriate weekly material consisting of sequenced technical exercises/etudes as well as
repertoire
• Communicating frequently with parents and the Léman Conservatory Coordinator
• Submitting bi-weekly lesson logs to the Léman Conservatory Coordinator
• Preparing students for the annual Léman Conservatory Recital each June
• Preparing students for auditions or competitions (e.x. NYSSMA, college auditions, etc.)
• Communicating in a professional and proactive manner
• Maintaining positive interpersonal skills
• Demonstrating independence and reliability
Experience
- 3+ years of private teaching experience and group settings
- Teaching experience with a variety of age groups including beginners
- Violin/strings method books, technique training exercises, and repertoire
- Ability to also teach cello or viola
Qualification
- Bachelor’s Degree in performance or music education with a violin/strings focus
- Master’s Degree in performance or music education with a violin/strings focus
