Key Responsibilities: 
(The primary tasks, functions and deliverables of the role) 
  • Development, management and delivery of a comprehensive school counseling program that addresses the health, welfare, morale, and activities of their respective school division 
  • Provides short term individual and group counseling services to meet the development, preventive, and remedial needs of students. 
  • Consult with students, parents, teachers, administration and other school and community personnel to assist in meeting the needs of students. 
  • Collaborate and consult  with other counselors, Division Heads, and the Director of Student Support Services  within the school community (PK1-grade 12). 
  • Provides counseling support to the Boarding Community; meeting with students in need, attending weekly boarding meetings, collaborate/consult with Boarding staff 
  • Maintain student records, confidential records, records of services provided, and behavioral data. 
  • Interprets psychiatric and psychological test results, along with other student data to inform supports implemented in the school/classroom environment. 
  • Refer students and their families to appropriate community agencies for medical or social services. 
  • Attend workshops, seminars, and/or professional meetings in order to remain informed of new developments in school social work, mental health counseling, and/or school psychology. 
  • Identify and address learning and social emotional/health challenges that interfere with school success 
  • Attend necessary meetings (IESP, related service, treatment and therapy team ) as needed. 
  • Promote school policies and practices that ensure students’ ability to access the educational program by addressing bullying, harassment, etc.. 
  • Respond to crises by providing leadership, direct services, and coordination with needed community services. 
  • Coordinate the delivery of services to students and their families in and outside of school. 
  • Must be flexible and available to work occasional evening functions, as required. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualification and Experience:  
  • Social work certification and degree  
  • At least 3-5 years of experience 
  • Has worked in a diverse community  
  • Clinical experience 
  • Experience working with adolescents
