  • Performs preventative and corrective maintenance of patient care equipment and coordinates on-site repairs with user.
  • Manages the day to day activities of the Biomedical Equipment Shop.
  • Maintains records of repair, time and materials used and preventative maintenance.
  • Provide direction to assigned personnel (vendors, mechanics, etc.)
  • Ability to read, interpret and analyze schematics and wiring diagrams; reasoning skills in order to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule form.
  • Lay out job schedules and make labor and material cost estimates.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and observance of safe work practices.
  • Train, develop and maintain professional growth through seminars, workshops and professional affiliations to keep abreast of the latest trends in field of expertise.  Provide leadership in training and development of equipment technicians.
  • Schedule and perform PM inspections/calibrations.  Monitor PM work done by outside vendors.
  • Responds to all “Emergency Urgent” and “Urgent” equipment work requests, as directed by policy.
  • Diagnose system malfunctions and make repairs.
  • Perform electrical safety tests on all incoming biomedical equipment.
  • Maintains complete and timely permanent records for all equipment that falls under the responsibility of the biomedical technician.
  • Trains hospital personnel in safe operation of biomedical equipment.
  • Helps evaluate new equipment before purchasing.


  • Associate’s Degree in Biomedical Engineering or Electronic Technology
  • Minimum 5 years electrical repair
  • Minimum 1 year of hospital biomedical experience
