At LMH Health, we are committed to being a partner for lifelong health for the communities we serve. The Lead Phlebotomist functions as a member of the laboratory team to perform the same receptionist, clerical, specimen handling and/or phlebotomy/registration duties as described in the phlebotomy or clerical lab assistant job descriptions, but have an expanded role with significantly increased responsibilities. They are often primary contacts for healthcare office managers and customer service concerns. They work closely with the Phlebotomy Supervisor to assure collaborative and efficient front office operations. They work with the Technical staff and are involved in pre-analytical, post analytical and technical lab processes. The Lead Phlebotomists have demonstrated proficiency in specific core competencies. In addition they have demonstrated eagerness and enthusiasm to learn, as well as the willingness and capability to assume additional responsibilities.

a. Promotes the vision and mission of Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
b. Demonstrates proficiency and core competency including; punctual and responsible in attendance, flexibility in scheduling, appropriate independent judgment and initiative, professional appearance and demeanor, promotes teamwork, maintains positive attitude.
c. Acquires and updates knowledge pertinent to policies, specimen collection, procedures and result reporting.
d. Performs pre and post-analytical processing of lab orders, specimens and reports.
e. Functions as expert in section for problem solving.
f. Provides leadership and representation for laboratory with compliance issues related to Medicare and ABN organizational initiatives. ABN and compliance issues oversight.
g. Works closely with the HIMS department to assure complete and accurate patient medical record, assists with compliance and auditing needs as necessary.
h. Participates in maintenance of Lab Directory of Services.
i. Assists in training for all lab staff in areas of compliance, HIMS and pre and post-analytical subjects.

a. High school graduate or equivalent.
