Program Analyst II

The Programmer Analyst II participates in design, development, and implementation of applications for clinical and non-clinical areas with primary emphasis on systems integration.  This position consults with users to identify current operating procedures and clarify program objectives.  The Programmer Analyst II with analyze hospital systems, procedural and user problems; develop, test, troubleshoot, and implement solutions to ensure maximum productivity.  This position writes documentation to describe program development, logic, coding and corrections.  They will deliver custom programming solutions to clients to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of their service delivery. The Programmer Analyst II manages small projects or entire phase of larger projects.


  2. Provide system support, monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
  3. Provide departmental leadership and mentoring for Programmer Analyst.
  4. Manage smaller project development from beginning to end, according to the LMH project Management Methodology.
  5. Work under the direction of a project manager to manage the phase of a larger project.
  6. Define projects using project definition templates to include scope, goals, success criteria, risks, and deliverables that support business goals.
  7. Develop project plans and associated communications documents in conjunction with a project manager.
  8. Track project timelines and deliverables using appropriate tools.
  9. Develops functional specifications for new applications or enhancements to existing applications.
  10. Investigate user problems and needs, identify their source, and determine possible solutions.
  11. Analyze user project proposals to include identifying potential problem areas and recommend optimum approaches for project path.
  12. Participate in the development of training materials and assist in conducting training and workshops.
  13. Investigate, recommend and install new applications.
  14. Document programming problems and resolutions for future reference.
  15. Assist personnel or other departments as a computer resource.
  16. Upon mastery of assigned applications, additional responsibility may be assigned.
  17. Demonstrates ability to adapt quickly to many functional environments and ability to analyze and solve complex problems.
  18. Exhibits strong oral and written communication skills.
  19. Maintains an overall knowledge of the Software development Lifecycle and common programming tools.
  20. Performs other duties as needed or assigned.




  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience
  • Experience with information systems, business administration or records including course work in work flow analysis, flowcharting and cost-benefits analysis.
  • Experience in writing technical documentation
  • Prior experience with Systems Analysis and relational database management systems




  • Prior experience in healthcare delivery systems
  • Project Management and/or structured programming experience
