Description

I. JOB SUMMARY

The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for decontamination of soiled instruments, utensils and equipment; proper inspection, assembly, packaging and sterilization; maintaining adequate inventory of supplies.

II. ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Checks equipment for leaks, broken or loose parts, or other defects.
  2. Purging waste from equipment and sterilizing all tools according to specific protocols.
  3. Organizes inventory and ensures stock for proper tools for all procedures.
  4. Performs appropriate decontamination of instruments and equipment.
  5. Prepares instrumentation and uses appropriate sterilization methods.
  6. Pulls surgery case carts daily and on call.
  7. Performs other duties as needed or assigned.
III. JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
  • High School diploma or equivalent
Preferred:
  • One year as Sterile Processing Tech
  • Central Registered Certified Central Service Technician (CRCST) certified
