Description

The Director of Nursing Physician Clinics provides administrative oversight and assistance to nursing staff in the development, organization, implementation and evaluation of nursing staffing and care delivery, in accordance with evidence based practice and hospital policies and procedures. This includes clinical nurse manager oversight, development of key nursing performance indicators and providing ongoing quality improvement oversight, ensuring current standards, skills, and/or educational needs of staff are met. The Director is responsible for quality of patient care. The Director also ensures that safe patient care is provided by qualified, competent staff who provide nursing care to patients in the clinics.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

a. Plans and facilitates a variety of activities to improve the level of knowledge, performance, skill and competence of the clinical staff in accordance with hospital policies, procedures, and standards of improving population health and nursing practices, as defined in the professional literature.
b. Provides direct care as needed to patients of all relevant age-specific categories with complex or unusual needs in order to ensure that safe and effective care is provided in accordance with hospital policies and procedures and standards of nursing practice. Collaborates with physician enterprise leadership to oversee and manage clinical process flows to improve patient care and outcomes in accordance with industry standards.
c. Provides and helps to oversee patient, family and community education in order to position the hospital as an essential community resource as needed.
d. Develops, implements, audits for compliance use of policies, procedures, and standards of care to promote the delivery of safe, efficient and cost effective care in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
e. Participates, assess, develops, and implements performance improvement activities to support organizational outcomes in accordance with hospital policies and procedures, best practices, and standards of nursing practice defined in the professional literature and evidence based care.
f. Role models expert nursing behavior and leadership. Oversight of clinical managers, clinic nursing staff performance/educational needs as identified by overall individual and unit outcomes.
g. Assumes a leadership role in development of Departmental goals and direction consistent with LMH Purpose and strategic initiatives.
h. Responsible for ongoing performance evaluation, guidance and development of clinical nurse managers
i. Provides opportunities for growth and development of nursing staff.
j. Responsible for oversight of all nursing practice in the clinics.
k. Collaborates in the development, implements and reviews processes for patient satisfaction and quality improvement outcomes in conjunction with physician enterprise leadership.
l. Addresses quality of care concerns involving nursing, patients, families and the community.
m. Coordinates and/or assists with the development of annual nursing reports, resources guides and other clinic publications.
n. Promotes service line programs and activities in the community as needed.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Required
o Current Registered Nurse License
o Exhibit progressive professional development
o Current BLS certification
o 4 years nursing and/or clinical experience
o Ability to prioritize and problem solve
o Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing

Preferred
o Master’s Degree, Nursing preferred
