At LMH Health, we are committed to being a partner for lifelong health for the communities we serve. The Scrub Technologist functions as a member of the patient care team, under the supervision of the physician, registered nurse and/or the director.  The Scrub Tech provides patient care services in the clinic setting through intake and appointment/surgery preparation.  This position also provides technical skills in the role of the surgical scrub during operative procedures.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Promotes the vision, mission and PI philosophy of LMH.
  • Utilizes effective interpersonal skills to promote teamwork, collaborates with other members of the healthcare team to deliver optimal patient services.
  • Performs skills from skills checklist accurately.
  • Participates in performance improvement activities, initiating improvement through proper channels.
  • Respects and demonstrates confidentiality and adheres to hospital policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrates accountability for maintaining and advancing professional competency, meeting educational requirements pertinent to practice.
  • Demonstrates flexibility regarding scheduling and provides backup to the clinic front desk and nurse.
  • Adheres to safety policies and procedures and displays knowledge of hospital’s emergency code procedures.
  • May participate in QA, PI activities and other hospital committees.
  • Demonstrates expertise with instrumentation, setting up the case and physician preferences.
  • Update and file patient medical records, fill out disability and FMLA forms, including prior authorizations as needed.
  • Handle correspondence, schedule appointments, arrange for hospital and lab services, and obtains outside records, including MRI prior to appointment.
  • Take medical histories and record vital signs.
  • Explain treatment procedures to patients and prepare patient for examination.
  • Authorize drug refills as directed and telephone prescriptions to a pharmacy.
  • In the clinic setting, responsible for inventory and outdates, answering phones, and assisting the nurse as needed.
  • Performs other duties as needed or assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • High School graduate or equivalent
  • BLS Certification

Preferred

  • Graduate of an Operating room Technician/Surgical Technologist Program
  • Prior work experience as Operating Room Technician/Surgical Technologist
  • Minimum one year previous experience
