Lean Six Sigma methodology is integrated into overall operations. They oversee and/or lead and/or facilitate improvement teams or projects across the organization. The Performance Improvement Manager provides leadership and support in continuous quality improvement activities that promote LMH Health organizational strategies. They are responsible for identifying appropriate solutions in a timely manner and are actively involved in process redesign and process engineering. This position provides leadership to a team of Performance Improvement Specialists.

As a key leader in the Quality department, this position will be responsible for driving and guiding improvement activities to completion, overseeing implementation of processes to meet standards and monitoring the progress completion of direct reports.  
The position is responsible for continuous collaborative learning and mentoring direct reports. Further priorities for this position include maintaining competency in Lean Six Sigma methodology and tools, as well as, direct reports.
 
 RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Directs team that leads performance improvement through Lean Six Sigma methodology and tools. The focus will be on quality, safety, cost, outcomes and organizational improvement.
  • Manages improvement activities through engagement of teams, subject matter experts and stakeholders.
  • Manages and/or facilitates complex rapid improvement events for value stream analysis, standard work, improved flow, pull, waste reduction, error proofing, workplace organization and other objectives. Identifies best countermeasures and solutions needed to address root causes.
  • Delivers training and provides mentoring support in Yellow Belt, Green Belt, Root Cause Analysis, 5S, Kaizen and workshop facilitation techniques, while being an exemplar of all these skills among others.
  • Provides training, leadership, subject matter expertise and delivery of continuous improvement practices (5S, Lean and Six Sigma, planned maintenance, focused improvement, kaizen events, etc.) to staff and the organization.
  • Effectively creates a culture of accountability, communication, problem-solving and resource-effective decision making.
  • Ensures appropriate project management is utilized.
  • Leads and facilitates process improvement teams and directs timely completion of multiple projects, Kaizen events, and consults that support strategic goals of LMH Health.
  • Applies multiple performance improvement methodologies and tools to projects as needed (such as, but not limited to Lean, Six Sigma, statistical process control, DMAIC, FMEA, RCA, process mapping, cause and effect diagrams).
  • Understands LMH Health’s strategic initiatives and aligns improvement efforts with the strategic goals of the organization.
  • Promotes a culture of quality, safety, high-reliability, patient and staff engagement, and performance excellence.
  • Performs other duties as needed or assigned.
  • Demonstrated professional communication: verbal and written. Able to speak and facilitate team activity in front of groups in a professional manner. 
  • Presents information to diverse audiences with clarity and impact. Adjusts approach to match the audience and situation.  Possesses expert leadership skills and maturity in managing difficult situations and conducting crucial conversations.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required:        

  • Master’s degree or equivalent experience in business, nursing, public health, health administration, or health related field;
  • Three years of experience using and implementing Lean and Six Sigma in an organization.
  • Experience in teaching Lean and Six Sigma.
  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certification
  • Track record of delivering organization improvement projects at Black Belt level
  • Experience in project management
  • Experience in leadership/management

Preferred:

  • Three years of relevant acute-care hospital experience in quality, patient safety, regulatory and accreditation or an equivalent combination of education and experience which would demonstrate the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be qualifying;
  • Certification with CPHQ or willingness to obtain certification within 24 months of hire.
  • Advanced knowledge of computer spreadsheets and databases (including Microsoft Excel, Word and preferably Access).
  • Current applicable licensure (ex. RN, med tech, etc.)
