The Sterile Processing Lead assists the Manager with day-to-day operations related to processing, such as mentoring, supporting current processes and implementing process improvements in the Sterile Processing Department.  This position assigns daily tasks and organizes scheduling to assure compliance with TJC, AAMI, AORN, and related areas.

  • Ensures staff competencies are met and appropriate training is provided.
  • Conducts daily rounding on staff, evaluating experience and identifying opportunities for staff recognition and improvement.
  • Capable of performing all assigned functions in the Sterile Processing department.
  • Participates in identifying, developing and delivery of education, training, and personal/professional development for SPD staff.
  • Responsible for staff schedules and daily staffing concerns.
  • Flexible in working various schedules.
  • Identifies and resolves issues affecting the Sterile Processing department.
  • Assists with collecting data and implementing actions plans.
  • Proficient with the use of sterile processing equipment, Instrument tracking hardware, troubleshooting equipment and escalation when appropriate.
  • Participates on designated hospital committees.
  • Performs other duties as needed or assigned.
  • High School Diploma
  • 2-3 years experience as a Sterile Processing Tech in a hospital or surgery center or equivalent work experience
         - SPD Certification
