At LMH Health, we are committed to being a partner for lifelong health for the communities we serve. The Cytotechnologist is responsible for microscopic analysis of gynecological and non-gyn specimens.  The cytotechnologist also assists the pathologists and physicians in specimen procurement and oversees the processing of all cytologies.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Promotes the vision and mission of Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
  • Demonstrates proficiency and core competency including; punctual and responsible in attendance, flexibility in scheduling, appropriate independent judgment and initiative, professional appearance and demeanor, promotes teamwork, maintains positive attitude.
  • Acquires and updates knowledge pertinent to policies, specimen collection, test procedures, and instrumentation.
  • Demonstrates technical expertise necessary for accurate and reliable performance of testing.
  • Effectively manages section Quality Control, section Proficiency, and Personal Proficiency Testing programs.
  • Compile statistical data for cytology department and evaluate for performance improvement opportunities.
  • Assists in inventory control and research and development of new tests and/or improved services.
  • Communicate section information at staff meetings, participates in continuing education opportunities, and takes part in training/mentoring of new employees.
  • Participates in interdisciplinary committees and teams, functions as technical expert in section.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:  

  • Bachelor of Science in Cytotechnology or Biology
  • Completion of a one year accredited Cytotechnology program
  • ASCP registered or eligible Cytotechnologist
