  1. JOB SUMMARY

This position has primary responsibility for the Infection Prevention Program through surveillance, investigation and reporting; outbreak investigation; development of policies and procedures; and associate, physician and patient/family education.       

  1. ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  2. Coordinate the Infection Prevention Program to meet CMS/CDC and The Joint Commission (TJC) standards. This includes surveillance, reporting reportable, construction oversight,
  3. Attain and maintain knowledge of CMS/CDC and TJC standards for infection prevention.
  4. Perform surveillance on all required CMS/CDC infections which includes, chart review, data collection, analysis of potential infections, concurrent intervention with staff and providers, and submission of data to NHSN for CMS/CDC, and other regulatory agencies.
  5. Work in collaboration with the Infection Prevention Medical Director to develop the agenda, packet, minutes, etc. for the Infection Prevention Committee.
  6. Perform root cause analysis on healthcare acquired infections (HAI) or hospital onset infections (HO).
  7. Educate all audiences (employees, physicians, patients/families, volunteers, community) regarding CMS/CDC/TJC changes, updates, and/or any relevant topic. Educate employees during new employee orientation, annually, and as needed.
  8. Develop policy and procedures.
  9. Collaborate with leadership and key roles to address changes or issues identified.
  10. Lead and/or facilitate performance improvement projects.
  11.    Knowledge of Performance Improvement theory, method and tools.
  12. Standing member of Products, Safety, and Disaster Committees.  Other committees as needed.
  13.    Performs other duties as needed or assgined.

 

III. JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Required:     

  • Current State of Kansas Nursing License or Medical Technologist.
  • CIC required or obtained within 24 months of hire or in active pursuit.
  • Minimum years of experience: 3-5 years of acute care experience.
  • Strong computer skills (Excel, Word).
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills are critical.
  • Strong writing and presentation skills.     

 

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Experience with Infection Prevention and Control.
