As a DevOps Engineer, you will be working alongside the DevOps team. Functions include the handling of all deployments, capacity planning, and any and all other functions that bridge the gap between Operations and Engineering. Identifying ways of improving processes, reduction of the deployment life cycle and process automation ideas play a large part in this role. There is also an internal element to the role involving the evangelization of application development teams and driving improvement in the way we service our platform through automation and repeatability.

To enable the successful interaction with developers around their applications and environments, you will have or rapidly be able to develop a full understanding of our full product portfolio and be able to enable best practices, which will be shared across the team. Secondary functions will be to provide training on your specs and configuration management best practices to other support engineers.

Candidates must work well within a team environment and have strong documentation skills. A strong work ethic and ability to provide on-call 24x7x365 support is expected, though this is not a first-line support position.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Be an expert in the rapid deployment of all applications
  • Analyze all functions with an eye towards improvement, with the main focus on the velocity of the build and deployment process and capacity planning
  • Analyze and implement improvements to the release management life cycle
  • Build and maintain a highly fault-tolerant infrastructure on private/public cloud
  • Collaborate as part of an agile team, learning new skill sets as needed
  • Collaborate with our development team to implement and evolve solutions for a wide array of challenging problems

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • Prior experience in DevOps and process re-engineering
  • Communicating and collaborating with others is essential
  • Strong, tenacious problem-solving and inferential deduction skills
  • Patience and flexibility: LiveVox is an intricate platform and material changes take time and cross-department coordination
  • Linux/UNIX Administration (RedHat/CentOS, Amazon Linux) and practical understanding of core TCP/IP networking, load balancing, and routing concepts
  • Scripting/development expertise with Python and Shell. Sufficient language and development experience in other areas to come up to speed quickly are also considered
  • Practical understanding of software development processes, and particularly with SaaS delivery. Flexibility and ability to communicate effectively with developers are key to success.
  • DataBase knowledge/experience (Oracle, MySQL, RDS)
  • CI/CD tools such as Ansible, Puppet are a plus
  • Industry knowledge: virtualization tech and providers (hypervisors, cloud computing platforms)
