The Opportunity:

The Instructional Design Specialist will report into the Learning and Development Manager. As part of this team, you will be responsible for designing and delivering learning courseware to support our internal and external training programs. Your focus will be on creating a global environment in which all employees can onboard successfully and leaders are developed. 


A Day in the Life:

  • Design, deliver, and maintain training programs and learning solutions ranging from in-person training classes and materials, live virtual webinar sessions, on-demand videos, interactive tutorial simulations, to other innovative learning material
  • Demonstrate expertise in instructional design, technical communication, and multimedia content development; participate in both delivery and evaluation of training sessions where appropriate
  • Maintain, develop, and test user training materials for instructor-led training and online training content (including interactive tutorials and rich media educational videos)
  • Lead project teams to design and develop internal training content and materials
  • Work directly with internal clients to gather educational requirements
  • Collaborate frequently with subject matter experts (SMEs) to assist with knowledge transfer and accuracy/quality of content
  • Work across teams to ensure that educational content is effectively deployed and represented on internal learning management system
  • Management and development of internal learning management system
  • Facilitate in-person classroom sessions as needed


Role progression:

Within 1 month, you will:

  • Complete our new hire onboarding process
  • Meet your team and learn the nuts and bolts of our business, and where we are going.
  • Familiarize yourself with our technology and understand how we are delivering our solutions to customers
  • Become familiar with our learning management system
  • Beginning to work on courseware and instructional design projects in tandem with the Learning and Development Specialist



Within 3 months, you will:

  • Become an administrator of our learning management system
  • Working on courseware and instructional design projects independently and in tandem with the Learning and Development Specialist
  • Training on how to use and administer the company learning management system

Within 6 months, you will:

  • Designing full training courses for internal and external stakeholders
  • Doing needs assessments on training programs
  • Measuring the impact of training via Kirkpatrick or other learning measurement methodology
  • Administrating the learning management system

About You:

  • 2– 4 years’ experience in Learning and Development/Training, Human Resources or Education
  • Experience in content development (curriculum design, e-learning, multimedia, instructional design)
  • External customer training experience preferred
  • Proven track record of managing a project from needs analysis through implementation
  • Demonstrated history of balancing multiple priorities and projects simultaneously with the ability to adapt to the changing needs of the business.
  • Possess an acute focus on meeting milestones and deadlines
  • Hands-on experience working with content authoring (e.g. Captivate, Articulate, Lectora, and/or Camtasia),
  • Hands-on experience with professional image editing and desktop publishing software (e.g. Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere)
  • Exceptional customer service and collaboration skills
  • Knowledge in the development and management of training evaluation programs
  • Experience in managing a learning management system
  • Advanced experience or familiarity with e-learning standards (SCORM)
  • Effective and professional written and verbal communication skills
  • Passionate about learning and utilizing new technologies to deliver effective training
  • Strong writer with a critical eye for nuance, detail, and editorial principles
  • Capable of analyzing and producing content through the eyes of a learner
  • Knowledge of adult learning principles with the ability to apply course design techniques
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office
