The Opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Product Owner to join a driven team of product professionals dedicated to helping customers and internal stakeholders focus on what matters. We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated, and energetic Product Owner to join our team and help push our products to the next level of excellence.
The Product Owner works closely with our customers, prospects, partners, service, sales, and engineering teams to guide new features and products from idea to release, working with scrum teams to define and execute changes to products. This includes understanding key customer workflows to identify gaps and pain points, and creating solutions to solve problems and derive value, translate business needs and technical requirements into epics and user stories for scrum teams to execute and eventually deliver solutions to help make customers happy.
This role works closely with many diverse groups both inside and outside of Litera, is a bridge of communication to solve problems, delivers fantastic products that drive strategic value for customers and help drive success at Litera.
A Day in the Life:
- Drive the Agile software development effort by acting as the voice of the customer to define and clarify user stories with the scrum teams through ongoing team collaboration, business acceptance testing, use case development and data analysis
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to further define the product strategy and vision. Act as a translator between business stakeholders and development.
- Define the product roadmap, manage, and reprioritize the backlog
- Oversee the development pipeline including UAT to ensure the business units are aware of development releases and approvals are provided
- Participate in agile ceremonies - daily standups, sprint kickoffs, user story grooming, sprint reviews and retros.
- Maintain the product backlog and support the product team in daily activities including backlog grooming, defect escalation, and defining expected system behavior
- Participate in customer interviews and partner with product manager in requirements gathering and discovery work.
- Work with UX/UI team to ensure workflows are meeting accessibility and usability standards
- Detail and build business problems and technical requirements into epics and user stories
- Determine MVPs and break items out into key phases and deliverables
- Work with customer services and marketing teams to plan successful product launches
- Support on the creation of sales and training materials for new product versions
- Constantly review the competitive marketplace and products
Role Progression:
Within 1 month, you will:
- Complete new hire onboarding, including eLearning courses, instructor-led training, and more
- Train on Litera’s core values and get an overview of our solutions
- Meet team members and review goals, initiatives, and specific objectives
- Meet with key stakeholders across the business
- Review and understand core market problems, value propositions, and features of the product
- Learn our current product roadmap
- Learn the product roadmap creation, development, and release processes
- Talk to and learn from our customers
Within 3 months, you will:
- Have developed a deep understanding of the products your teams create and support.
- Have developed an in-depth understanding of the current marketplace, personas, problems, and key workflows, working with market-facing teams to review market data, observe users, and review customer feedback
- Document detailed business problems and technical requirements.
- Facilitate release and sprint planning processes, scrum ceremonies, and empower team commitments for release and sprint delivery
- Drive initiative and epic research and development process
- Communicate with customers and prospects to listen and understand the voice of the customer
- Drive conversations about where product lines should be going, encouraging debate and critique
- Contribute to a product release by validating and testing assumptions
- Analyze your product’s past releases to identify focuses, compromises, and areas for improvement
- Evaluate new feature and enhancement requests
- Become an autonomous member of the product team and independently plan work to meet deadlines
Within 6 months, you will:
- Present your roadmap themes, goals and supporting initiatives to the team
- Develop epics from a conceptual idea through to the final delivery
- Serve as a subject matter expert for how users perform their jobs and feature requests for your product
- Collaborate with teams, monitor and track release and sprint milestones, and facilitate mitigation of issues and risks.
- Know why Litera is winning and losing in the market. Drive changes to the product that will create improvement
About you
- At least 3 years+ of experience as a product manager or product owner in agile environments, although more experience is welcome
- Experience of working in the legal or legal technology industries is desirable
- Experience of working with client relationship management systems (CRM), in particular Salesforce is desirable
- You have excellent communication skills, written and verbal, with the ability to take complex business requirements and translate them to a form that is widely understandable
- You can think through and advise about how minor changes or requests can have strategic impacts across all levels of the business
- You are comfortable speaking with a wide range of stakeholders, willing to travel when appropriate, and able to seek out conversations and discussions yourself
- You are self-motivated with curiosity about how our customers work, and passionate about delivering great user experiences
- You are comfortable balancing competing priorities while working with and solving problems for customers. You do not shy away from awkward situations or being clear when you cannot commit to something
- You have attained a bachelor’s degree or higher
