About You and this Role

The Solutions Center of Excellence (SCOE) is a unique division within Liferay that 1) focuses on implementing vertical solutions for target industries and 2) functions as the bridge between Global Services and our Product Management team. As an SCOE Product Manager, your goal will be to coordinate and help define solutions to meet customers’ needs as well as collaborate with product teams on high priority customer requests. 

You are responsible for maximising the value of work done by the development team. You will be involved in every aspect of the solution development process from discovery to business requirement definition to delivery. You will work directly with designers, engineers, project managers, and stakeholders to produce meaningful and exciting solutions. 

You will also help build features and components based on feedback from Global Services consultants who are constantly in contact with customers and prospects. You must have a unique blend of technical and business savvy, a big-picture vision, and the drive to make that vision a reality. You must enjoy spending time with customers and prospects to understand their problems, and collaborate with the product development teams to discover innovative solutions for the market.

You must be able to communicate with all members within the development team. You will work primarily with the Director of the SCOE and the team’s Project Manager to establish the goals and priorities for the solutions and offerings. You will work with customer facing business units like Support, Sales and Training, helping them understand the offerings’ positioning, benefits, and target customers. You will also serve as the internal and external evangelist for your offerings, directly working with the customer success team and key customers.

We are looking for experienced and passionate product managers that can help us work on the future of digital experience. Because the SCOE is a cross-functional team, you may be assisting efforts on multiple of the following objectives that drive value to our customers:

  • Deliver a digital experience that is engaging and informative - Required experience: Web design and content authoring, previous experience with content management systems (CMS) and marketing automation 
  • Sell products and service through digital channels - Required experience: previous experience with e-commerce platforms (B2B commerce experience is a plus) 
  • Empower users to address common needs efficiently and without outside help -  Required experience: previous experience with incident management systems, customer portals and collaboration technologies. 
  • Optimize the entire digital experience to improve user satisfaction and business outcomes - Required experience: Strong analytical skills, experienced building and leveraging ML/AI, previous experience with data and analytics technologies.
  • Orchestrate the foundational services needed to digitally transform your business - Required experience: Identity management and access control systems, security and privacy regulations, customer data platform (CDP) and user onboarding, Web development tools and technologies 
  • Operate the platform and underlying infrastructure to provide a reliable digital experience - Required experience: Managing cloud environments including: deploying, monitoring, scaling applications in multiple cloud providers: AWS, GCP and Azure 

Key Objectives

  • Contribute to the solution vision and program backlog
  • Own team backlog and work with Project Manager on implementation
  • Define and prioritize stories 
  • Sprint Planning. You are the primary source for story detail and priorities and have the responsibility of accepting the final sprint plan
  • Participate in team demo and retrospective
  • Develop and communicate the solutions’ vision and roadmap to deliver innovative components that align with the strategy
  • Build an understanding within internal team members of the solutions’ vision 
  • Work with UX and Engineering to develop your components and features from solution hypothesis to launch and iteration. Enable high-quality, timely execution of solution launches.  Define and analyze metrics to measure the success of your components.
  • Engage with customers to uncover new business opportunities that improve our solutions and solve the customer pain points.
  • Work cross-functionally with other product managers, business analysts, tech leads, and department heads to harmonize components across products/solutions. 

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of software product management experience, preferably in the software space.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or relevant experience.
  • Ability to speak and write English fluently. 
  • Good understanding of SDLC processes and experience with Agile methodologies.
  • Proven track record of leading through influence and vision.
  • This position requires travel to customer and non­-customer sites.
  • Understands and exhibits the importance of being a team player. 
  • Flexible and adaptable to change.
  • Possess a strong knowledge of technical concepts and are very comfortable working with engineers.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Experience building web/mobile/digital products is a plus.
  • Experience with Jobs-to-be-Done (JTBD)  framework is a plus.
