About You and this Role

Are you passionate about building interfaces that thousands of enterprise users rely on every day? As a Frontend Engineer on our Cloud team in Recife, you will help design, implement, and maintain the user-facing applications and shared component libraries that power Liferay Cloud globally. You possess a solid working knowledge of modern frontend development, handling moderately complex engineering challenges independently under general supervision. You care about the details that users feel: accessibility, performance, and interactions that behave correctly on the first try. You thrive in a highly collaborative global environment and take initiative to drive reliable, scalable solutions.

Key Objectives

  • Build and maintain user-facing features across Liferay's digital experience products, using TypeScript, React, and Next.js.
  • Contribute reusable, well-documented components to our shared design system so other teams can build on your work.
  • Integrate frontend applications with GraphQL APIs, handling caching, loading and error states thoughtfully
  • Write and maintain automated tests (Jest, React Testing Library) as part of your normal workflow, not as a separate phase.
  • Partner with stakeholders, designers and other Frontend Engineers to improve requirements, propose alternatives, and shape the final solution for our customers.
  • Working in a cross-functional team, and collaborating with other departments (Design, Project Management and Product Management) to bring great interactions to life.
  • Participate in peer review processes, growing along with your teammates. Suggest improvements and be humble enough to accept suggestions. Everyone learns from everyone, no matter how brilliant you are.

Required Qualifications

  • Sólid  experience with software engineering best practices: version control, unit testing, etc.
  • Degree in Computer Science, similar technical field of study, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Strong proficiency in TypeScript and React, including hooks, component composition, and modern state management.
  • Solid working knowledge of HTML5, CSS3/Sass, state management solutions, and integrating RESTful APIs or GraphQL.
  • Experience writing frontend tests with Jest and React Testing Library.
  • Working knowledge of web accessibility (semantic HTML, ARIA, keyboard navigation, WCAG basics) and browser performance fundamentals.
  • Understand and share the values of agile development.
  • Proficient with Git (or any other DVCS) and related branching patterns.
  • Experience writing enterprise-level code in one or more programming languages.
  • You have strong learning skills; if you don’t know something, you’re willing (and capable) of learning it.
  • Fully comfortable working in English and Portuguese, both written and spoken. Some of your teammates will be in the Americas, Asia or Europe.
  • Good communication skills. You can clearly explain technical subjects to designers, product stakeholders, and other engineers..

  • Familiarity with GraphQL schema design or working closely with API teams
  • Comfortable working with Figma and translating design tokens into code
