About You and this Role  

The Global Services team is looking for an Engagement Manager who enjoys working in a fast paced environment, supporting the delivery of challenging and multi-faceted projects. We’re looking for the kind of person that can be the link between our customers’ teams and Liferay Global Services, and who loves dealing with customers, to make sure they have the best experience in dealing with Liferay as possible and that they get a top quality service. Key Objectives

  • Keep resource planning and budget tracking information accurate and up to date
  • Participate in the appropriate internal project and resource planning meetings
  • Anticipate the resource requirements by account and project, and then effectively communicating forecast information to operations to increase effective utilization of resources
  • Establish/monitor online project collaboration sites (internal and external)
  • Build the project team to achieve engagement goals
  • Communicating a clear picture to team members of what project success looks like, and working with client leadership to build the comprehensive plan to get there
  • Applying and effectively tailoring project management concepts (e.g. Scrum, Agile) to adapt to specific client situations and effectively guide the delivery process – from strategy through user experience design to solution design, development, testing and deployment
  • Regularly communicate project status with the project team members and leadership, including key accomplishments, next steps, and items for management attention
  • Managing project scope and change control through project phases, stages and milestones
  • Effectively manage project risks and issues, tracking status and resolutions to help the project stay on course to achieve targeted outcomes
  • Prepare for and actively participate in client meetings and work sessions to understand requirements, progress and potential issues
  • Applying the appropriate project management concepts and tools (e.g. spreadsheets, Agile tools, and sprint planning processes, etc.)
  • Proactively maintain ongoing communication and interactions with client personnel and driving the team to achieve great outcomes for our clients and team members
  • Define/communicate the overall solution we are providing to the client (the business solution - why the client is making this investment)
  • Understand the steps required to get there and build the appropriate project plan (including resource requirements)
  • Ability to take notes from client meetings and translating them to meaningful insights/summaries that articulate the client environment (use cases, requirements, needs)
  • Assemble building materials and orchestrate meetings to clearly convey the project and solution direction, communicate and solicit feedback on interim deliverables (including the 'why' behind our design and recommendations) and capture/incorporate feedback as appropriate
  • Know what needs to be done, and then make sure it gets done

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required
  • Excellent prioritization, organization, and time management skills and ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate complex business solution concepts clearly and persuasively to diverse audiences
  • Check progress against targets, report as necessary and take action to resolve exceptions
  • Ability to consistently deliver projects and customer value
  • Knowledge and experience in leading distributed cross functional teams; applying project management techniques in situations that involve a blend of resources from strategy through user experience design through development and deployment
  • Familiarity with agile software development lifecycle
  • Fluent in English
