About You and this Role
As a Senior Data Engineer at Liferay you will be joining a team tasked with maintaining data sets, building out data infrastructure to help data analysts succeed, as well as championing new methods that allow for more advanced analytics while upholding the highest standards for security and governance. Liferay is stepping into Data Driven culture and you will build the systems that allow that to happen!
Key Objectives
- Maintain data systems that help our internal teams to gain insights on how to best serve our customers.
- Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders to analyze requirements, design the solution, estimate level of effort, define deliverables and drive solution implementation.
- Design, build, and maintain data pipelines that help drive analytics across the organization.
- Maintain critical data systems from ETL/ELT pipelines, data warehouse cloud infrastructure, BI Tools, and everything in between.
- Build and maintain systems that will help Data Analysts with advanced analytics.
- Help grow and mentor junior team members in data engineering and security best practices.
- Help champion the use of data driven decision making within the Liferay organization.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of relevant experience with a BS/BA in Computer Science/Information Systems, or equivalent technical background.
- Proficient in Python, Java or similar languages.
- Proficient at writing SQL for Google BigQuery, MySQL or similar database.
- Proficient with cloud-based data warehouse development.
- Ability to develop and maintain a large set of ETL/ELT data pipelines with minimal supervision.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate complex business solution concepts clearly and persuasively to diverse audiences.
- Self-starter, quick learner, self-motivated, and proactive in completing responsibilities.
- Expert problem-solving skills coupled with very strong motivation to identify and resolve customer issues.
- Good team player who enjoys sharing their knowledge with others and mentors junior team members.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Google Cloud Platform, Google BigQuery and Apache Airflow.
- Experience with Git or similar VCS.
- Experience working within the Scrum framework.
- Experience with quality assurance and data quality automation.
- Experience with data governance.
- Familiar with Tableau or similar Business Intelligence tools.
