Opportunity Manager, North America

The Opportunity Manager, NA is responsible for supporting a wide range of high value deals originating from North America.

 

Response for the management of these opportunities through the discovery, proposal development, presentation and follow-up sales processes. Sales opportunities include formal RFPs and presentations, complex proposals and strategic long-term convert opportunities.

 

The individual we seek will partner with the sales lead on each opportunity to provide a robust project management service, appropriate challenge, insight and direction. They are responsible for the production of high-quality, critical sales documents such as proposals, presentations, discussion documents and formal responses to follow-up inquiries.

 

This role is a member of the Global Opportunity Management Team, which sits inside LHH’s Sales Operations & Effectiveness organization partnering with sales to deliver wow moments for customers.

 

Reporting Relationships:

      Reports to Director Opportunity Management, NA (Team Leader)

      Frequently works on opportunity teams with Global Sales Leads, Practice and Solution Leaders, Regional Managing Directors, Area Sales Directors, Talent Development Solutions Directors, Country Managers and Business Developers

Major Responsibilities

Key Accountabilities

      Project-manages opportunities through the discovery, proposal development, presentation and follow-up sales processes. Opportunities can be either:

  • RFPs
  • Proposals/other materials for account expansion or retention
  • Creative proposals to avoid RFPs or similar

      Key focus on developing sales presentations, customized proposals and discussion documents for opportunities

      Collaborates with opportunity teams locally or across NA and occasionally internationally, often with the need to quickly get up to speed, understand the deal strategy and execute on the team’s plan 

      Manages and drives working sessions and progress review meetings, often via Skype

      Responsible for managing project timelines, ensuring that key milestones are met (e.g., drafts completed on time, content received from team members on schedule, documents finalized prior to client deadline)

      Outside of individual deals, the role works closely the rest of Opportunity Management Team and with colleagues in Marketing on the development, standardization and updating of new sales messaging and templates for frequently used sales documents (e.g., presentation templates, proposal responses, talk tracks)

 

Required Experience/Characteristics

Mandatory requirements

Knowledge and Experience

      Minimum 2 years’ recent experience as a bid or proposal manager - including project management of opportunities, writing, preparation of sales materials

      Minimum 5 years overall business experience preferably including some time spent in the business consulting or professional service sector

Functional Skills

      Must be able to demonstrate excellent writing and editing skills

      Advanced Microsoft Office skills, especially Word and PowerPoint

      Time / priority Management for managing multiple projects simultaneously while creating quality work in a high pressure, deadline driven, virtual environment

      Effective use of online tools (e.g., Salesforce.com, WebEx, document collaboration tools)

      Business level English, both written and oral

Soft Skills

      Stakeholder management – ability to collaborate and influence senior executives and thought leaders

      Ability to ensure that standards and processes are maintained

      Ability to function well in a client focused and deadline-driven environment

      Resourcefulness, creativity and intuitiveness – ability to problem solve by self or with minimal intervention, yet knowing when it is appropriate to seek guidance

      Adept at distilling complex concepts into compelling visual information and sales messaging

      Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with Senior Executives in emails and verbally

 

Desirable

      Experience and understanding of the Career Transition and Talent Development industry and solutions, as well as the business issues that drive the use of these services
