TEAM LEWIS is seeking an experienced Senior Vice President to lead the strategic and operational development of our Boston office. The remit is to scale and diversify the business so that it reaches its maximum potential. The role has commercial responsibility and is a member of the US senior management team. The goal in 2022 is to grant $5 million. Community charities are championed by TEAM LEWIS’ employees, who volunteer their time and skills to maximize the grants’ effectiveness.

Purpose of the role
The role will work closely with the Senior Vice President, US PR and the EVP, US along with the US senior management team to drive Boston’s vision within the US strategic business plan. The SVP’s responsibility is the development, growth and profitability of the Boston office. The SVP will be charged with championing a teamworking virtual and office culture, being hands on with people development, new business and marketing activity. The role will lead and sponsor key US and multi-market clients, providing added-value strategic and creative consultancy to clients on their integrated marketing journey.

Core responsibilities

Strategy & competitiveness

  • Develop and implement the plan to develop the Boston office; the plan will include driving team growth and expanding integrated business
  • Help drive and deliver the vision for sector diversification in the region
  • Present the strategic face of the agency to external audiences, eg. through speaker opportunities

New business

  • Lead credentials and pitches for US and multi-market prospects, developing the strategic insight, strategy and messaging
  • Build relationships with senior prospect decision makers, key intermediaries and influencers
  • Direct the new business outreach and marketing activity; work with the marketing team to promote TEAM LEWIS as a leader in integrated communications
  • Seek to secure new clients from the network; champion the cascading of US clients

Client servicing

  • Be the senior lead on key US and multi-market clients, ensuring excellent and profitable service and delivery of results
  • Provide senior counsel across the client base, applying strategic and innovative thinking to aid retention and expand our remit
  • Run executive media relations programs, including media training, for senior clients
  • Ensure growth in client revenues, reviewing profitability and driving plans for optimizing revenues
  • Ensure excellent client communication; ensure that KPIs and service agreements are defined

Team management and development 

  • Oversight of the Boston office, reinforcing a culture that drives team growth and retention
  • Build a high calibre and motivated team: set strategic team objectives; work to maximise strengths and support career development
  • Review and propose salary increases, promotions, hires
  • Interview key potential hires. Help on-board and mentor these hires, setting them up for success
  • Lead on employee communications, running regular office meetings and attending socials
  • Run training sessions and work with colleagues and HR to evolve the training programme
  • Overall, be a collaborative, encouraging, supportive member of the US senior management team.

About you
Ambitious, dynamic and positive, you have experience of leading and growing a comms agency or practice or large team. Your business network is strong and you have an impressive track record of winning and developing major blue-chip accounts as well as of retention and organic growth of existing clients. Considered, assertive and influential, you are an outstanding leader with the skills and aptitude to structure, develop and motivate a team, top to bottom; and you are able to forge strong relationships with eclectic senior stakeholders. You have rounded communications experience across PR and strategic consultancy, with strong B2B tech sector expertise, and a keen understanding of integrated campaigns.

Additional requirements:

  • In-depth PR and integrated comms experience; agency experience a must
  • Experience in the tech sector and in conceiving and running B2C and B2B campaigns
  • Connected within the Boston comms and business community – a keen networker
  • High level of business acumen: a proven track record of exceeding goals
  • Ability to think strategically, anticipate future trends and potential pitfalls
  • Excel at leading and motivating bright and ambitious people; a collaborative team builder
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Integrity, humility, passion/self-drive/initiative – and a sense of humor!

Remuneration and benefits

  • Basic salary dependent on experience
  • Performance related bonus
