Purpose of the role

The Digital SEO/SEM Specialist or Manager consults for Clients in all matters to do with search and digital paid media and ensures the client is kept fully up to date with critical activity on the account. In addition, they take an active role in developing that relationship by identifying and selling additional services. This person may also manage junior team members, ensuring individuals have the right skills, and that the team works together effectively.  

Key responsibilities and tasks

Client Management

  • Maintains a consultative relationship with the client, acting as the key contact for all search and paid media services
  • Responsible for maintaining excellent client communication; defining deadlines and service agreements whilst ensuring these are met consistently by the team
  • Supports teams and clients in all aspects of nurturing and growing their activity
  • Works closely with the client to regularly review account performance, identifying and communicating opportunities for account organic growth
  • Works with the client and wider digital team to ensure effective budget management
  • Plays an integral role in the new business process, taking an instrumental role in generating content and presentation preparation, in addition to attendance at pitches where necessary
  • Ensures regular contact with the client is maintained by direct reports and other team members
  • Assists with pricing and selling projects
  • Maximises opportunities and outreach to external brands, as well as existing and past contacts, to build new business leads 

Digital / Paid media

  • Work closely with the regional team and local market teams to build SEO/SEM strategy and roadmap for LEWIS and Clients
  • Own and manage local and regional SEO/SEM projects
  • Strategize and determine media strategy/planning in the area of SEM (Google AdWords) and achieve monthly KPIs
  • Determine and prioritize onsite audit, SEO content and link building efforts and resources to achieve given monthly KPIs including organic traffic, orders and revenue
  • Collaborate and build processes with marketing, regional strategic accounts, accounts team and other departments across the company
  • Regularly develop, analyse and report on SEO/SEM performance including traffic, revenue, conversions, rankings - leveraging internal reporting, Google Analytics, Google Search Console and additional 3rd party reporting tools
  • Provide the best practices for keyword development, audience targeting/segmentation, assessment redesigns, category migrations, site structure, internal linking, site taxonomies and technical setup that can lead to accelerated paid/organic traffic
  • Create safe link building strategies and coordinate with content, merchandising and technical teams to ensure growth in domain authority
  • Develop thinking around tools and software with regards to SEM and SEO, feeding into the technology stack
  • Working closely with SEO/SEM software developers (such as MOZ) to drive initiatives for marketing and internal teams
  • Work closely with content/delivery teams to ensure articles, videos and images are visible in relevant search result
  • Stays up to date on best practices and current trends

Team working and development

  • Acts as a collaborative team member, working closely with peers and junior team members to maximise strengths, improve weaknesses and support career development
  • Guide local market junior account team members, including coaching, supervision and assessment 

  • Provides guidance to colleagues on how to best manage campaigns, including answering general new business requests

Reporting and analysis

  • Ensures that all activity and results are reported back to the client, providing insight and analysis across all aspects of the account
  • Communicates account performance internally (account reviews) and provides strategic advice to the client based on measurable analytics
  • Monitors and reports back on account KPIs and ensures accurate reporting by junior team members
  • Provides detailed reports to the senior management team on request

  General

  • Takes a proactive role in promoting the LEWIS brand, its work, identity and values
  • Supports the HR / talent team by promoting both internal and external opportunities at LEWIS across social media and via the referral scheme
  • Contributes and supports the continuous improvement of systems, practices and policies
  • Overall, is a guardian of best marketing practice

About you

  • 3 – 7 years of experience in SEO with an intermediate understanding/foundation in SEM
  • Results-oriented mindset and ability to work independently
  • Stay on the leading edge of search engine industry trends, algorithm updates, and the competitive landscape
  • Knowledge of SEO and SEM metrics
  • Strong experience in keyword research, safe link building techniques, SEO/SEM tools (e.g. Screaming Frog. Ahrefs, SemRush, SEO Moz, Google AdWords etc.)
  • Strong experience in using Analytics Tools (Google Analytics, Google DataStudio, SuperMetrics, Google Search Console)
  • Ability and desire to work with big data & numbers. Strong Excel skills (SQL, Python, PowerPivot will be a big plus)
  • Proven track record of business results and revenue growth through SEO and SEM
  • Outstanding project/client management experience
  • Fluent English in writing and communication (Mandarin would be an added bonus)
  • Understanding of client business issues and requirements
  • Understanding of the APAC region market/trends (including China) and opportunities for growth
  • Calmness under pressure and ability to achieve tight deadlines
  • Ability to interact confidently with clients at a senior level
  • Ability to troubleshoot team and client problem areas – and suggest a remedial course of action
  • Creative thinking and an open-minded approach
