Purpose of the role
We are committed to training our people in integrated marketing communications and to evolving their leadership and soft skills. The Learning and Development Director will partner with US stakeholders to introduce initiatives to support TEAM LEWIS’ journey to becoming a destination agency.

This role will be responsible for the coaching, training and development of the team, including the executive team. The aim is to ensure that the agency is “fit for the future” and consistently high-performing so that it is able to deliver its strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities & Tasks

  • Undertake a training needs analysis to propose short, medium and longer term learning and development initiatives and plans for all US employees across multi disciplines

  • Implement a wholistic learning program that streamlines capabilities across the U.S. teams
  • Develop career pathways framework and coach managers through career development of their line reports
  • Recommend whether training programs and sessions should be rolled out regionally, locally or globally, aiming for an effective blend of different learning delivery methods

  • Collaborate with internal subject matter experts to curate content for the proposed skills- based training programs

  • Personally deliver leadership and soft skills training sessions on line/team/upwards management, self-confidence, communication/listening skills, interpersonal skills, stress management/problem solving, time management, change management, etc.

  • Lead on career mapping/creating clear career pathways and help with the communication of opportunities available at TEAM LEWIS

  • Provide counsel and insight in coaching all seniority levels on their career development; follow up on plans/actions as required

  • Be proactive in providing advice and resources for employees needing individual/specific care

  • Recommend changes to performance management initiatives, taking into account the experience and views of the HR Team

  • Partner with the HR Team to ensure that training is consistent across all locations

Other Responsibilities
  • Act professionally across the agency and represent the global creative proposition positively

  • Be a cultural ambassador for LEWIS, using all social media channels to showcase team activity, projects and initiatives.


About You
Working for an integrated comms or PR agency, you are a strategic thinker who enjoys developing the skills and capabilities of others. As a communications practitioner (current or former), you have a keen ability to use that experience to train others for success. You are passionate about learning and creating an atmosphere of growth, creativity and experimentation. You set an excellent example, you are dynamic, fast paced and self-driven. Empathetic and commercial, you know how to connect on a human level while driving for business results.
  • You are a charismatic and motivational trainer with experience as a marketing practitioner

  • A highly motivated self-starter with organizational flair, experienced in designing, setting up, running and delivering training initiatives in a pacey, changeable and challenging environment

  • Experience of conducting training needs analyses and managing a skills database

  • Able to demonstrate a track record in developing and upskilling people

  • A strong leader with the skills and aptitude to motivate and inspire people; highly engaging and empathetic

  • Experience of coaching employees through business, social and environmental change

  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills

  • Experience of marketing communications and knowledge of the agency world are beneficial

  • Integrity, humility, life-long learner – and a sense of humor
