ABOUT THE ROLE
The LeoVegas Mobile Gaming Group is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Legal Counsel focused on privacy, to join our dynamic and growing Privacy team. This role is instrumental in safeguarding the personal data of our customers and employees, and ensuring robust data protection practices across our diverse brands, entities, and markets.
You will play a role in the development and operational implementation of our privacy program, with the opportunity of exploring more general legal and regulatory affairs focused matters, as necessary.
YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR:
- As Legal Counsel - Privacy, your core duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Support the Privacy team in ensuring compliance with all privacy related laws and regulations for assigned entities, brands, and markets within the LeoVegas Mobile Gaming Group.
- Support the Data Protection Officer (DPO) for designated Group entities in fulfilling their statutory duties and responsibilities, including advising on regulatory requirements and privacy compliance matters.
- Collaborate closely with DPOs and internal stakeholders on all pertinent data protection matters, contributing to a cohesive and effective privacy framework.
- Conduct and support comprehensive data protection due diligence on prospective and existing business partners.
- Draft, review, and negotiate data protection agreements, clauses, and terms.
- Draft, review, and update privacy policies and related procedures, privacy notices, and cookie policies for the Group and its partners, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and legal compliance.
- Assist in developing, maintaining and implementing internal procedures and policies to ensure robust personal data protection and GDPR compliance across all business operations.
- Provide expert legal advice and guidance on a broad spectrum of data protection issues to various business units, internal stakeholders, and project teams.
- Participate, as requested, in data protection workstreams within company projects, including mergers & acquisitions (M&As), ensuring privacy by design and by default principles are integrated from inception.
- Support privacy-related initiatives, representing the Privacy team in cross-functional company projects, where required.
- Contribute to knowledge sharing and the continued development of privacy expertise within the Privacy team.
- Provide assistance and legal advice concerning data subjects' rights requests, ensuring timely and compliant responses.
- Assist with customer complaints related to data protection, including assisting in conducting thorough internal investigations, drafting submission, and preparing comprehensive reports.
- Support interactions with data protection supervisory authorities and other regulators regarding complaints, inquiries, audits, and other regulatory matters.
- Support the assessment, investigation and record-keeping of any data breaches and assist in any associated regulatory reporting where required;
- Internally escalate any material data protection risks.
- Conduct, advise on, and assist with Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs), other privacy related assessments or investigations, and privacy audits.
OUR SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE THE FOLLOWING:
ESSENTIAL SKILLS
- A recognised legal qualification demonstrating a strong foundation in legal principles and analysis.
- A minimum of 2-3 years of post-qualification experience, which includes a privacy focus, preferably within a multinational or complex corporate environment.
- Strong knowledge of GDPR and other relevant global data protection laws.
- Experience in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating data protection agreements and privacy-related policies.
- Experience supporting privacy compliance programmes, regulatory matters, or data protection governance initiatives.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills with the ability to support the advice of senior team members to the business.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders across the organisation.
- Ability to work independently, keep senior members of the team appropriately updated on ongoing matters or risks, while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic, and evolving regulatory landscape.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
NICE TO HAVE SKILLS
- Specific experience within the iGaming, financial services, or technology sectors is considered a very strong asset due to the inherent data intensity and regulatory scrutiny.
- Any relevant privacy certifications.
