Overview
We’re looking for a strategic and experienced Senior Marketing Technology Manager to lead our audience strategy within our Customer Data Platform (Segment). Sitting at the intersection of marketing, data science, and engineering, you’ll be a key architect of how we define, build, activate, and scale audience segmentation to power personalized, data-driven marketing across the customer lifecycle.

In this role, you’ll take ownership of our audience infrastructure in Segment—governing how audiences are structured, reused, tested, and measured. You’ll work closely with marketing channel leads, data scientists, and data engineers to align technical execution with marketing goals, while upholding strong standards for data integrity, privacy, and compliance.

Success in this role means becoming a strategic enabler of cross-channel marketing. You’ll deliver scalable systems that unlock personalization, experimentation, and operational efficiency. You’ll proactively surface opportunities to improve our data architecture, lead high-impact integration projects, and promote best practices in audience governance. Over time, you’ll become the go-to expert for how marketing technology accelerates performance—balancing hands-on problem-solving with long-term strategic vision.

A day in the life combines strategic planning, systems design, and cross-functional leadership. You might start the day aligning with marketing leads on campaign priorities, followed by reviewing data pipelines or audience structures in Segment. Later, you could lead a session with data engineering to scope customer identity resolution or work with lifecycle and paid media teams to optimize targeting strategies. You’ll also partner with data science to evaluate performance, explore automation opportunities, and continuously improve how our MarTech stack supports speed, scale, and personalization. Documentation, mentorship, and roadmap planning round out your day as you enable the broader marketing team to move faster and smarter with data.

You will

  • Lead the strategy, development, and execution of scalable audience segmentation in Segment, ensuring audiences are aligned to business objectives and campaign goals.
  • Translate marketing use cases into data requirements, defining event tracking needs, user traits, and identity resolution strategies.
  • Partner with channel owners (Paid Growth, Lifecycle, Sales) to deliver highly-targeted campaigns across the funnel.
  • Own audience governance frameworks — naming conventions, documentation, testing, QA, and reusability of audiences across teams and tools.
  • Act as the primary liaison between Marketing, Data Science, and Data Engineering to ensure clean data flow into and out of Segment.
  • Collaborate with Data Science to incorporate predictive models and scoring systems into Segment audiences.
  • Work with Engineering to prioritize and optimize tracking instrumentation and data pipelines that feed Segment.
  • Lead conversations around audience performance insights and opportunities with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Serve as the internal SME for Segment audience capabilities, managing integrations with downstream platforms (e.g., Meta Ads, Google Ads, Salesforce).
  • Proactively identify and lead improvements to how we manage identity resolution, audience logic, and data quality.
  • Drive innovation by testing and implementing new tools, features, or strategies to improve marketing precision and scalability.
  • Define and enforce best practices for audience measurement, control group creation, and A/B testing readiness.
  • Ensure that all audience management practices align with data privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA) and internal data governance policies.

You have

  • 6+ years of experience in Marketing Technology, Growth Marketing, or Marketing Operations, with at least 3+ years of hands-on experience with Segment or equivalent CDPs.
  • Proven leadership in developing and scaling audience segmentation frameworks in a cross-functional environment.
  • Strong technical fluency: able to bridge the gap between marketing requirements and data/engineering execution.
  • Deep understanding of digital marketing ecosystems and data-driven targeting strategies.
  • Experience working with or alongside Data Science (e.g., using predictive models, LTV scoring) and Engineering (e.g., instrumentation, pipelines).
  • Proficiency in SQL and comfort with analyzing or interpreting large datasets.
  • Exceptional project management, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
