Our tax experts are obsessed with taking complex tax topics and simplifying them for our SMB clients.


As a Sr. Tax Associate, You will

     Review returns (Forms: 1040, 1041, 1065, 1120, 1120S) completed by Tax Associates. Provide feedback to Tax Associates on missing information or entry errors on returns.

     Sign completed Tax returns.

     Serve as the first line of customer support managing incoming phone calls and emails from customers. Answering tax questions related to SMB returns and assisting customers with successful completion of tax returns by requesting documents and providing directions on document upload process.

     Manage and resolve Tier 1 & 2 customer escalations. Will determine if an issue should be escalated to Tier 3 for further investigation.

     Distill complex business tax issues into a digestible manner making it easy for the SMB to understand. 

     Be consultative in your approach and your recommendations to our SMB customers; including items such as accounting software, point of sale recommendations, tax planning etc. Provide delightful, high-quality customer service while utilizing company practices and procedures to answer routine tax questions and documenting interactions with clients 

     Act as the SME on all things that impact an SMB's finances

     Use cutting edge technology to provide a world-class experience to our SMB formation customers 

You have

     Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Taxation with an EA or CPA credential (required)

     Active PTIN preferred; Must achieve within 90 days of employment

     5+ years of relevant small business return experience in tax review and signatory duties as it pertains to business returns (1120, 1120s, 1065, 1040, etc)

     Experience using tax software such as Lacerte or ProConnect and bookkeeping software (Quickbooks Online preferred) 

     Exceptional level of attention to detail and accountability to high-quality tax preparation standards 

     Enthusiasm for serving customers and working on a team with other like-minded tax experts, especially in a dynamic and evolving work environment   

     High-quality communication skills (written and oral) 

     Excel at organization and problem solving with strong time-management skills  

For onsite roles or roles that require periodic onsite visits, LegalZoom requires all employees to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 before starting work, unless precluded from doing so by applicable law.
