Position Overview
We are seeking a seasoned professional to lead the design and implementation of Daylight Transport's cloud infrastructure. This strategic role requires expertise in AWS services and DevOps practices, coupled with a deep understanding of agile methodologies. As a key figure in aligning technical solutions with business objectives, you will champion a culture of automation and innovation, driving continuous improvement across the organization. The role involves architecting scalable, secure, and cost-efficient cloud solutions while providing technical leadership and mentorship to development teams. You will stay ahead of emerging technologies to influence and refine architectural decisions, ensuring the infrastructure supports the company's growth and security objectives.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Design and oversee the implementation of scalable, secure, and cost-effective cloud architectures using AWS services
  • Lead DevOps initiatives, implementing CI/CD pipelines and fostering a culture of automation and continuous improvement
  • Conduct and facilitate backlog grooming sessions, ensuring that technical debt is addressed, and new features are properly scoped
  • Participate in sprint planning, providing technical insights and helping to prioritize work items
  • Act as a Change Manager, overseeing the change management process and ensuring smooth implementation of updates and new features
  • Develop and maintain a release versioning strategy, coordinating with development teams to ensure consistent and meaningful version control
  • Design and implement multi-region, high-availability architectures using services such as Route 53, CloudFront, and Global Accelerator
  • Optimize existing cloud architectures for performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency
  • Implement robust security measures and ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations
  • Collaborate with data engineering teams to design efficient data pipelines and storage solutions
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to cloud engineers and developers
  • Stay current with emerging cloud technologies and evaluate their potential impact on our architecture
  • Develop and maintain cloud architecture documentation, including diagrams, runbooks, and disaster recovery plans
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align cloud architecture with business goals and requirements
  • Conduct architecture reviews and provide recommendations for improvement
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to engineers and developers, fostering skill advancement and innovation.
 
 
Required Skills & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field; Master’s degree a plus.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in cloud architecture, with at least 3 years focusing on AWS; additional experience is a plus
  • Strong knowledge of AWS services, including EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, API Gateway, SQS, SNS, CloudFormation, and CDK.
  • Extensive experience with DevOps practices and tools, including CI/CD pipelines, GitHub actions, Docker, Amazon ECS/EKS, infrastructure as code, and containerization
  • Deep understanding of agile methodologies, including experience in backlog grooming and sprint planning
  • Strong Knowledge with Monitoring and Logging: Amazon CloudWatch, AWS X-Ray.
  • Experience in change management processes and release versioning strategies
  • Strong knowledge of security best practices in cloud environments
  • Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and orchestration platforms like Kubernetes
  • Understanding of data processing and analytics technologies, including big data and data warehousing concepts
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to architect complex, scalable systems
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience leading and mentoring technical teams
 

Nice to Have Skills
  • Experience with additional cloud platforms like Azure or Google Cloud Platform
  • Certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer - Professional
  • Strong analytical skills to support data-driven decision-making
  • Proficiency in scripting languages for infrastructure automation.
  • Experience with cross-functional team collaboration to align architecture with business goals
