Position Overview
The IT Asset Management (ITAM) Specialist is responsible for governing the end-to-end lifecycle of enterprise IT hardware assets, ensuring operational efficiency, data integrity, compliance, and cost optimization. This role oversees asset procurement, deployment, tracking, maintenance, refresh cycles, and secure disposition. The ideal candidate brings a process-oriented mindset, strong analytical skills, and hands-on experience with ITSM and CMDB platforms. They will collaborate cross-functionally with IT, procurement, vendors, compliance teams, and business stakeholders to maintain accurate asset visibility and operational excellence. This role oversees asset procurement, deployment, tracking, maintenance, refresh cycles, and secure disposition. The ideal candidate brings a process-oriented mindset, strong analytical skills, and hands-on experience with ITSM and CMDB platforms. They will collaborate cross-functionally with IT, procurement, vendors, compliance teams, and business stakeholders to maintain accurate asset visibility and operational excellence. Your resposabilities will include:
Hardware Deployment & Provisioning
- Provision and configure new and refurbished hardware for new hires, replacements, and project initiatives.
- Coordinate end-to-end onboarding asset fulfillment, ensuring timely delivery and accurate system configuration.
- Support break/fix operations for in-scope hardware (laptops and standard peripherals), including triage, vendor coordination, logistics, and repair/replacement processes.
- Maintain accurate asset and Configuration Item (CI) records within the CMDB or Hardware Asset Management (HAM) system.
Lifecycle & Refresh Management
- Manage hardware refresh programs, including user communications, procurement coordination, asset replacement, and retirement workflows.
- Ensure secure data destruction, recycling, resale, or compliant disposal of end-of-life assets.
- Maintain complete compliance documentation and audit trails for asset disposition.
Asset Repository & Tracking
- Maintain data integrity across the CMDB/HAM platform, ensuring accurate asset registration, inventory logging, and CI relationships.
- Track device ownership, custody, and physical location across the organization.
- Support automated asset tagging and identification processes to improve tracking accuracy and operational efficiency.
Audit, Compliance & Reconciliation
- Conduct periodic asset audits to eliminate discrepancies, prevent ghost assets, and ensure compliance with corporate policies.
- Reconcile inventory variances and maintain audit-ready documentation.
- Support internal controls and external compliance requirements related to hardware lifecycle governance.
Required Qualifications
- +2 years of experience in IT Asset Management (ITAM), Hardware Asset Management (HAM), or related IT operations roles.
- Hands-on experience with ITSM/CMDB platforms (experience with ServiceNow strongly preferred).
- Strong data analysis capabilities with the ability to generate reports and dashboards.
- Excellent organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience managing full hardware lifecycle processes (procurement, deployment, break/fix, refresh, and disposition).
- Understanding of asset governance frameworks and inventory management best practices.
- Experience working with vendor management processes and third-party logistics providers.
- Familiarity with automation tools or asset tracking integrations.
