Joining our team means engaging with expansive engineering teams across Latin America, Philippines and the United States, contributing to cutting-edge developments in multiple industries.
Currently, we are seeking a Senior Data Architect with a strong English level to join our team. Here are the challenges that our next warrior will face and the requirements we look for:
Position Title: Senior Data Architect
Location: LATAM
What you will be doing:
BBG is building a modern data warehouse to consolidate fragmented property and appraisal data from legacy systems, spreadsheets, and structured and unstructured sources. The goal is to transform this information into a governed, reliable, and queryable foundation for analytics and future AI/ML capabilities.
As a Senior Data Architect, you will lead the design of the canonical data architecture supporting this transformation. You will define the shared business vocabulary, data models, schema boundaries, transformation patterns, and governance standards needed to move data from its current fragmented state into trusted, curated datasets.
This is a hands-on architecture role. You will work directly with domain experts to understand appraisal and property data, lead decisions where definitions are inconsistent, and partner closely with the Data Engineer to ensure the proposed architecture works against real data. Because the initiative is already underway, you will also assess the existing architecture, preserve sound decisions, and identify areas that need to be strengthened.
Key Responsibilities
Review the vocabularies used across legacy systems and tools.
Lead domain workshops to define canonical labels and enumerations based on relevant industry standards.
Design a legacy-value normalization process that combines LLM-assisted categorization with human review.
Determine which historical values can be automatically mapped to canonical terms and which require stakeholder review.
Maintain the master taxonomy as the source of truth for canonical terms and mappings.
Design logical data models that clearly separate long-lived reference data from transactional data.
Define entity relationships, snapshot requirements, and schema boundaries.
Design transformation flows across raw, normalized, and curated data layers.
Define data grain, partitioning, validation rules, and quality gates for each layer.
Distinguish data-quality warnings requiring review from blocking failures that must be corrected.
Partner with BI and ML teams to ensure the curated schema supports analytics and AI workloads.
Document data lineage from source systems through each transformation stage.
Maintain schema documentation, including ERDs, lineage, and technical decision records.
Establish patterns for schema versioning, breaking changes, and backward compatibility.
Required Skills & Experience
5+ years of experience designing relational schemas, lakehouses, or dimensional data models.
Experience working from conceptual through physical data design.
Strong understanding of normalized OLTP and denormalized OLAP modeling patterns.
Hands-on experience with SQL and normalized DDL, including constraints and indexes.
Ability to review transformation logic for correctness and performance.
Proven experience building controlled vocabularies, enumerations, and synonym mappings.
Experience managing taxonomy and canonicalization decisions involving multiple stakeholders.
Strong familiarity with a complex business domain, such as real estate, financial services, manufacturing, or healthcare.
Ability to translate business processes into schema requirements and challenge infeasible designs.
Experience facilitating discussions between domain experts and engineers.
Ability to document technical decisions and trade-offs clearly.
Nice to Have Skills
Experience working in real estate, property appraisal, valuation, financial services, healthcare, manufacturing, or another domain with complex terminology and data requirements.
Experience working with fragmented, unstructured, or inconsistent legacy data.
Familiarity with Microsoft-based data environments.
Experience designing data architectures that support analytics and AI/ML workloads.
Familiarity with LLM-assisted data categorization or normalization.
Soft Skills
Strong communication with domain experts, engineers, and other stakeholders.
Ability to lead domain and data-modeling discussions.
Confidence to challenge requirements constructively.
Ability to explain and document technical trade-offs clearly.
Collaborative approach to stakeholder negotiation and technical decision-making.
