The Software Test Engineer will design and execute test strategies for backend billing systems and APIs, develop automation frameworks, and ensure secure, scalable, and reliable subscription management services.
Position Title: Mid-level Software Test Engineer
Location: LATAM - Remote
What you will be doing:
We are seeking a detail-oriented, experienced Software Test Engineer to design and execute test strategies to validate backend billing systems and APIs. You will develop automated frameworks, perform API testing, and ensure quality through both functional and non-functional validation. Working closely with engineers and stakeholders, you’ll support continuous improvements in test coverage, reliability, and performance, while occasionally mentoring teammates and sharing QA expertise.
- Design, implement, and execute test plans for backend billing systems and APIs.
- Perform API testing using Postman, SoapUI, or similar tools.
- Develop automation scripts in JavaScript or Python.
- Leverage testing frameworks such as Cypress, JUnit, or TestNG.
- Validate subscription and billing workflows with platforms like Recurly or Chargebee
- Write and execute SQL queries to support data validation.
- Contribute to performance and security testing of APIs.
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot, analyze, and resolve issues.
Requirements & Qualifications:
To excel in this role, you should possess:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- +2 years of strong experience in QA testing with a focus on backend systems and APIs.
- Proficiency with RESTful API testing and methodologies.
- Hands-on expertise in Postman, SoapUI, or equivalent tools.
- Programming skills in JavaScript or Python for automation.
- Knowledge of Cypress, JUnit, TestNG, or similar test frameworks.
- Strong SQL skills for database validation.
- Solid understanding of SDLC, QA methodologies, and Agile environments.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Nice to have:
- Experience with subscription management platforms (Recurly, Chargebee).
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools and pipelines.
- Exposure to performance and security testing of APIs.
- Experience with containerized or cloud-based environments.
