Sr Data Engineer (Finance Solutions)
Description
We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer with experience in SaaS business models building critical data reporting systems. This person will take on ownership of our ARR (Annual Recurring Revenue) Reporting Environment which support analysis by multiple teams for C-suite executives and the Board of Directors strategic decisions. The ideal candidate will have strong curiosity, initiative, and ability to bridge the technical code and business logic to enable new enhancements and integration of new businesses while increasing the stability and scalability of the overall environment.
This role is open to candidates based in, or willing to work, Pacific, Mountain, or Central Time Zone hours.
This person will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to generate consensus, including:
- IT to design and implement data pipelines, governance, and security policies
- Finance to align on and meet the reporting requirements of our Executive team and Board of Directors. Prior experience working with Finance teams is considered a strong plus.
- PMO organization to understand company initiatives that may require modification
- This is a 50-70% hands-on technical role with strong need for communication with non-technical audience and stakeholder management
Here's more about what you’ll get to do (Responsibilities):
- Lead the design and implementation of business data systems and pipelines to source data for critical data requirements.
- Provide technical thought leadership in a collaborative team environment including data and software solutions to deliver timely and relevant information for decision making.
- Ability to discuss business concepts and translate that into technical code to apply to data to reach desired outcome
- Has the ability to troubleshoot issues due to failures of the pipeline and data transformation
- Become expert on core business logic and its application in transforming business data structures using SQL, Python, R to normalize data for analysis.
- Ability to self-manage and come up with solutions to address business needs
- Make recommendations on critical data pipeline & infrastructure decisions to streamline sourcing, transformation, storage, and delivery of data to LeadVenture Executives
- Adapt data pipelines and business logic to respond to evolving business contexts, examples including expansion into international markets, mergers and acquisitions, and product launches
- Able to teach and mentor team members to drive the overall success of the team
- Must have 5+ years’ experience in related roles as a Data Engineer
Technical Skills Required:
- You must have a working knowledge of SQL, Python, Git, and AWS technologies (S3, Athena, Glue)
- Experience working with NetSuite and Salesforce data a strong asset
- Experience working with orchestration tools like Apache Airflow or other data tools such as DBT considered an asset
- Experience in finance and accounting, or direct work with finance and accounting organizations, is considered a strong asset.
- Familiar with the basic constructs of a SaaS business model including ARR Walks, LTV:CAC, Churn / Renewal rate dynamics, Downsell / Upsell, Pricing, and New logo growth targets.
